Story
Moose's life has been a bit of a rollercoaster - this is his second time through TJO and we are SO HAPPY that he came back! Moose was adopted by a wonderful human who has since passed away. Moose's extended family stepped up but he did not get along with the resident cats and so they contacted TJO for help. Moose is now back in a safe place he knows to wait for his next human bestie.OTHER PETS: Moose is friendly and wants to play with other dogs, but does not take feedback well and is occasionally pushy or rude (like putting a paw on the other dog's back.) Moose would do BEST as an only dog; however he may do well with a confident, tolerant dog. [Case-by-Case (MUST Meet First)] NO CATSOWNER EXPERIENCE: [First Dog]KIDS: Moose is a relaxed, friendly dog who would has lived with children and would likely continue to do well with humans of all sizes. [Likely (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moose enjoys getting outside, but does not seem to like inclement weather too much. He is working on loose leash walking, so hitting the walking paths is a great way to keep improving Moose's leash walking skills with positive reinforcement. He enjoys playing with humans and is goofy. A combination of physical exercise and plenty of mental enrichment will help fully meet his needs. [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: Moose had surgery his first time through TJO for an ear hematoma. While he does not have any acute medical concerns, he does have a history of chronic ear infections. A good relationship with a vet will be necessary to keep Moose healthy as he ages. [ABOVE AVERAGE]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Moose bond with his new owner as well as help him learn important skills and fun tricks while building confidence. Story
Stop scrolling… because Scarlet Mae is the kind of dog people don’t forget. From the moment you meet her, she has this way of making you feel like you’ve known her forever. Maybe it’s those adorable floppy doppie ears that bounce with every step, or the way she looks at you like you’re already her favorite person. Whatever it is, it works! Because Scarlet wins people over almost instantly. She’s affectionate, attentive, and completely people-oriented in the best way. The kind of dog who doesn’t just want to be near you, she wants to be with you. Whether she’s leaning in for hugs, soaking up pets, or gently asking for just a little more love, Scarlet has a way of turning even the simplest moments into something special. Watch her video and you'll fall in love with her: https://youtu.be/8oHuAjWX9_Q?si=tkwRq8s072a9_RWw Scarlet Mae is believed to be a Pointer/Lab mix approximately 4 years old and currently weighs 48 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue dog, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. One thing we do know is that this girl is so people oriented and attentive to you when you're with her, it’s probably one of our favorite things about Scarlet. All she wants to do is make you happy and put a smile on your face. If you watched her video, then you know exactly what we are talking about. Now just imagine what that feeling is like when she is actually with you! She is even good with kids, hanging out with a 12-year-old here at the rescue. She snuggled up next to him on the couch, asking for affection without being too pushy and was so content sitting next to him getting all the love and affection. We believe she would make a great family dog. Another thing we love about Scarlet is the way she will sit in your lap letting you give her the biggest full body hugs and when you stop… she’ll lean even closer to you. Almost like she's saying, “hey friend, just 5 more minutes please.” It’s very sweet. Scarlet is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs we have introduced her to. She loves to romp around in the yard with the other dogs, playing chase and exploring with her doggy friends. For the most part, Scarlet is either enjoying the sunshine and fresh air while the other pups around her are playing, off exploring, or getting loved on by her people. When Scarlet first meets a new doggy friend, she prefers slower introductions to get to know her new pal and will also give a subtle correction to a dog if she’s not up for play in that moment or if things are getting a little too rough. Like how an older sister would do with her little brother, a teaching moment. In a home, she will do best with a medium energy male that enjoys those relaxing moments together, will be up for a game of chase every now and then, and will also be mindful of her boundaries when she’s ready to relax. If you don’t have other dogs, that’s fine too! She does not need the company of another dog to help her feel comfortable and open up nor does she need another dog to fulfill her energy needs. She is a confident love bug all on her own and will be just as happy being the center of your attention. She also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if Scarlet has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Scarlet is also a smart girl and is a quick learner too. She already knows how to sit, is mastering her leash skills, and has shown us that she is crate trained and potty trained as well. She is very people oriented, eager to please, and loves a good tasty treat. All the fundamentals that make any additional training you want to do with her that much more enjoyable for you both. She really impressed us with how quickly she responded to every command we gave her. Scarlet has the type of energy that is perfectly in the middle. Not too high and not too low. She can match whatever energy you need her to. Want to snuggle all day? Sign Scarlet up. Want to take a walk around the neighborhood or go exploring the trails? Scarlet is already at the door with her leash on. She would also thrive in a home with a backyard where she can stretch her legs, soak in the sun, and porch sit with you during those nice summer evenings. We are willing to test Scarlet Mae with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Hazel is a sweet, loving 5-year-old rescue who has been an incredible part of our family for the past four years. She was adopted from a shelter at about 6 months old and has grown up alongside our four children, making her extremely patient, gentle, and family-friendly. Hazel loves the dog park, playing in the backyard with kids, and relaxing on the couch. She’s wonderfully versatile—happy to play hard or lounge quietly. She is healthy, well-mannered, does not bark in the house (naturally- not trained that way), and happily welcomes everyone she meets (including mail carriers!), so she’s all love and not a guard dog. Her only small weakness is her love for people food. Otherwise, Hazel is truly a wonderful companion. We are heartbroken to explore adoption due to worsening dog dander allergies despite medical treatment, and we are committed to finding Hazel a loving home where she will continue to be cherished.

Story
Meet Mary Ann and Ginger, an adorable bonded pair of medium-sized rescue dogs who are searching for their forever home. These super cute girls have spent their entire lives on their own until they were recently rescued. Despite their rough beginnings, Mary Ann and Ginger are incredibly sweet and are now learning to enjoy the comforts of a loving home. Both Mary Ann and Ginger get along wonderfully with other dogs, though they haven't had the chance to meet any cats yet. They need a patient adopter who will give them the time and space they need to adjust to their new surroundings and discover the joys of being cherished pets. Ginger, who bravely underwent heartworm treatment, is now healthy and heartworm negative. Both dogs are fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and on preventatives. They even tolerate baths and absolutely love being petted. Currently, Mary Ann and Ginger are being fostered in Seguin, TX, where they are receiving the care and love they deserve. If you have a kind heart and a gentle hand, these two sweethearts will surely reward you with endless affection and loyalty. Adopt Mary Ann and Ginger and give them the loving home they've always dreamed of.
