Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617**Due to Sheriff Coltrane needing neutered, his adoption will not be finalized until on or after: TBDCould he do well with kids? Yes, with children around 6 years old on a kid-by-kid basis.Could he do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Coltrane is a friendly and inquisitive dog who walked well on a leash and enjoyed exploring the shelter grounds. He showed some reactivity towards other dogs, but was calm around the dog he arrived with. Initially, he was indifferent to me during our walk, but stayed by my side indoors.Although Coltrane was hesitant to let me take his food dish, he was tolerant of being handled while eating. He knew the cue “sit” and was responsive to redirection. He was fearful of an umbrella at first but overcame this with treats. Coltrane was easily distracted during husbandry handling, but would return when called, and was gentle when he jumped up to rest his paws on me.He was enthusiastic during playtime, especially with tennis balls and plush toys. Coltrane’s initial greeting towards a stranger was overly excited, but he calmed down with proper handling. While he initially barked when introduced to another shelter dog, he eventually settled and engaged in a more positive interaction.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT
