Meet Hop!
If you're looking for a loyal sidekick who will happily join you on every adventure and then curl up beside you on the couch afterward, Hop is your guy! This adorable 4-year-old, 17-pound Chihuahua/Spitz mix is the perfect blend of playful, affectionate, and easygoing.
Hop is the definition of a velcro dog. He adores his people and always wants to be close by, happily following you from room to room as your faithful little shadow. Whether you're relaxing on the couch, heading out for a walk, or running errands, Hop simply wants to be wherever you are.
One of Hop's favorite things is exploring the world. He loves his daily walks, enjoys meeting new people and dogs along the way, and even rides like a pro in both the car and on the subway! He's friendly with everyone he meets and is always happy to stop for a few pets from admirers.
At home, Hop has excellent manners. He's house trained, walks beautifully on leash, sleeps soundly through the night in his own bed, and knows commands like sit, come, wait, and even recognizes when it's time to head outside or settle down for bed. He's also a smart little guy who learns routines quickly.
Hop enjoys the company of other dogs, especially smaller ones, but like many dogs, he appreciates having his own space during mealtime. He should be fed separately from other pets and prefers to enjoy chew bones on his own. With slow introductions and clear boundaries, he's done very well living alongside both dogs and cats, and his foster has already seen wonderful progress as he's settled into his routine.
While Hop isn't much of a toy enthusiast, he absolutely loves affection. Belly rubs, pets, cuddles, and quality time with his favorite humans are much higher on his priority list. He isn't a big barker either, only speaking up to let you know it's time to start the day or when he's excited for his next walk.
Hop is a sweet, silly little dog with a wonderful balance of energy. He's equally happy exploring the neighborhood or spending a quiet evening curled up beside you. All he's looking for is a family who will continue to help him build confidence, respect his boundaries around food, and include him in all of life's adventures.
