Story
Lap dog anyone??? Barney is a 9 year old male Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix who is ready to find a forever home. Don’t let the age make you think twice - this dude is just middle aged in the toy dog world! Barney weighs in at a whopping 14.8 pounds, perfect lap size! He is well mannered and sweet as can be. Barney came to Angels when his owner had to deal with some family emergencies and things just got a little crazy and out of control. Barney is currently in his “summer trim” due to some matting he had upon arrival. He also came to us with undiagnosed pancreatitis which is 100% under control now! He will need to be kept on a low fat/sensitive type food and won’t be able to partake of human table snacks, but that should keep him good as gold! Barney also has a condition known as dry eye. This could have been caused by any number of things but the solution is easy - ointment twice per day! He’s great about getting it, and best part is that it’s not costly and not very invasive with no side effects! Barney will be sent home both with his food and his ointment!! Barney’s previous owner said he does well in the house, was pretty well house trained but would occasionally use a pee pad if she was gone overnight. He is good with pretty much everyone he meets, but would prefer a child free home. He has been around cats and was okay with them, and if sharing a home with another dog, would probably do best with a female over a male. He walks well on a leash, is good for grooming, and rides happily in the car. Normally he has a very Pomeranian like coat, so would need regular brushing/grooming to maintain it with no mats. Barney is just a sweet pup who we are afraid might be overlooked due to his age - when really, he looks, acts, and IS a happy now healthy middle aged good boy! He just needs out of this shelter and into a lap! **Barney’s adoption fee will be reduced due to his meds/dietary restrictions**
