Story
Meet Hopper! Hopper is a male, 3-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer Mix. He weighs 70 pounds.Hopper arrived at the shelter as a stray. He very quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite! Here are some notes from our volunteers: "Hopper seems to be house trained. Once he is taken outside his kennel, he spends quite a long time unwinding, going potty, etc. Once that happens, he loves to play with balls and toys, enjoy belly rubs, and putting his paws in my lap for hugs. I'm sure that when he finds his furever home where he has time to romp and play, he will really blossom into a great companion"Hopper is an easy-to-handle dog who sometimes pulls on the leash when he's excited. But don't let that fool you; he's a calm, sweet, and gentle companion who adores being showered with love, especially from people. His absolute favorite pastime is exploring the world around him, sniffing everything in sight. And when he's ready to relax, he loves nothing more than sitting close and enjoying some cuddle time with his favorite humans.Hopper will need an indoor home and a secure containment area to stay safe from wandering and escaping. Positive reinforcement, fear-free training will be needed. Daily exercise and mental enrichment will be very important. If you have other dogs in your home, we would be happy to arrange a meet and greet with your dog(s) to make sure everyone gets along (he tends to do better with female dogs). We do not know how he will do with cats.Hopper is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, neutered, and ready to go home today. The shelter is currently open by appointment only. Fill out an application to schedule an appointment today!
