Story
Hi everyone. This is Astra and we are looking for the right home for her. This is a hard decision because she is truly loved and part of our family. Astra is sweet, affectionate, very smart, and loves to play. She bonds deeply with her people and does great once she’s comfortable. She can be anxious/reactive in new environments or with new people at first, but she adjusts with patience and consistency. She loves playing with her dog siblings. Astra is also a jumper (has not cleared anything over 4ft) and can be a trash digger or destructive if bored, so she needs structure, supervision, and enrichment. We are looking for an experienced or committed adopter who has time to work with her and help her thrive. A fenced yard is preferred.

Story
Hi, I’m Buck! A very good, slightly round, 89 pound, 4-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever (experienced fosters say I look purebred, though no DNA test yet). I’m basically a professional water retriever who discovered the snack cabinet a little too enthusiastically. I’m a big, lovable goofball who’s still a bit confused about going from couch potato pet to shelter life, but I’m bouncing back fast! I’m great on a leash, love other dogs, don’t mark, and seem nicely housebroken. My favorite thing? Enthusiastic paw shakes. I’ll give you the big fluffy paw and those sweet Chesapeake eyes until you shake it… then do it again. And again. It’s our thing! About my breed & coat: Chesapeake Bay Retrievers were built to crash through icy waters and fetch. We have a thick, oily, wavy coat that works like a built-in wetsuit — it repels water and keeps us warm during chilly swims and dives. Mine is a rich brown and feels like a soft plush teddy bear, perfect for an active life by the water. Current Glow-Up Plan: I’m carrying some extra “snuggle padding,” so I’m on weight-control food and enjoying lots of fun walks to slim down into my athletic self. I’m highly motivated by praise, toys, and belly rubs! Buck is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to shake paws with his new family.
