Meet Wilson!
Wilson is a stunning 3-year-old Giant Schnauzer weighing approximately 75 pounds. This handsome fella was found as a stray in Detroit and, despite having a microchip, it had never been registered and no owner could be located. Now Wilson is ready to leave his past behind and find the committed family he deserves.
Wilson is an impressive dog with the size, presence, and personality that make Giant Schnauzers such a remarkable breed. He can be a little shy when first meeting someone new, but it doesn't take him long to warm up. Once he's comfortable, his loyal and affectionate side begins to shine through, and he has all the makings of a devoted companion.
He has done well with other dogs his size and has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners. Wilson is currently learning the routine of his foster home and working on crate training. He has also started showing interest in toys as he becomes more comfortable and discovers the fun of being a loved family dog. He has not yet been introduced to cats, so his compatibility with feline friends is unknown.
Wilson does have a tendency to pull on the leash, but he responds well to correction. Because he is a large, powerful dog, a physically fenced yard would be ideal. Alternatively, he will need a strong, confident handler who is committed to continuing his leash training and can safely maintain control. Wilson is not appropriate for an invisible fence or tether.
Breed experience is required for Wilson's adopter. Giant Schnauzers are intelligent, loyal, powerful dogs that thrive with structure, consistency, training, and an involved family. Wilson will also require regular professional grooming to keep his distinctive coat healthy and looking its best.
Due to his size, energy, and needs, Wilson is not a good fit for an apartment, condo, or mobile home. He also comes equipped with an impressive deep bark and won't hesitate to alert his family when he thinks something deserves their attention!
Older, dog-savvy children would be the best match for this big guy.
Wilson is handsome, loyal, intelligent, and impossible to overlook. He's looking for someone who appreciates everything a Giant Schnauzer has to offer and is ready to give this magnificent boy the structure, companionship, and love he deserves.
Most importantly, Wilson is looking for a family that will love him furever.

OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE.
