Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: Husky xEstimated Date of Birth : 10/15/2021Ginny and Luna the sweetest of sisters they love every human they’ve ever met. Their double happy energy is infectious and you’ll fall for  them the moment you meet. It’s hard not to be drawn to their affectionate vibrant spirits. And maybe that’s what saved them. Happy, good dogs deserve a life outside of the shelter and these two had amazing guardian angels working hard to make sure they got out! These sweet sisters were found at an abandoned construction site and brought to the shelter, where they waited and waited with no interest. Through the shelters Streets of Bakersfield program, Jeff and Julie met them during a doggy day out. The girls charmed them instantly. Their gentle nature and bond were impossible to forget. Just a few days later Ginny and Luna came down with a doggy cold and were suddenly placed on the euthanasia list. Jeff and Julie knew in their hearts that this could not be the end of their story. Jeff reached out to us right away and shared who these girls truly are. Loving. Kind. Worth saving. We thankfully had room and Ginny and Luna were given their chance at freedom.Ginny and Luna are now with us, healthy, loved, and ready for the next part of their journey. And their journey is taking them right into our Pawsitive Change program at Tehachapi State Prison. They’ll spend the next several weeks gaining skills they didn’t have which will hopefully get them noticed by a forever family who will adore them the way they deserve. These sweet, affectionate sisters are so thankful for their 2nd chance. Both girls are amazing with each other but very insecure and nervous around dogs they don’t know. We hope to improve their dog to dog social skills in Pawsitive Change. If you’re looking for a great dog apply to meet Ginny, Luna or both we’d love to see these sisters find their home together. Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: Poodle/Golden Retriever xEstimated Date of Birth : 07/01/2024Let’s just face it Mitzi is a lot! And when we say a lot we mean your average adopter is going to give up on this girl. She may be super adorable and have the look so many people want but Mitzi is definitely not easy. No one has taught her rules or boundaries and it shows. Not only does she have a lot of energy but she does all kinds of things most adopters just won’t be able to manage. She air snaps, bolts, is mouthy, picks fights with other dogs and resource guards all kinds of things from any dog in the home. Shes the cutest hot mess you’ve ever seen and the good news is with the right adopter, one with lots of experience, this girl could thrive. Mitzi came to us from a fellow rescue partner. She had two failed adoptions because well everything we mentioned previously and just couldn’t find her adoption fit. She also wasn’t getting the structure she needed and so we offered to help. Mitzi is now at our rescue ranch and staff have started her on the basics. It’s going to take time and loads of consistency but we know Mitzi can improve she just needs the guidance she’s never had. We know Mitzi’s adorable face is going to get all kinds of interest and we’ll probably get lots of applications but we need to be very clear. Mitzi is not the right dog for a 1st time adopter. She wouldn’t be a good fit for a family with young children. She’s not going to be best friends with your dog. She will drive you nuts if you aren’t active and don’t believe in rules and a routine. Mitzi will thrive with an experienced adopter with enough training knowledge to both balance and challenge her. Currently we don’t consider her dog social but that could change as her behavior is better managed and she learns to control her impulses better. Mitzi is a lot but for the right home she promises to give a lot too. She’s super sweet and in tune to her humans. She bonds quickly and deeply. Mitzi just wants what she’s never had a home committed to giving her that lifetime of love she wants more than anything else. A lifetime of love paired with the rules and boundaries to keep her there.
