Note from a volunteer: Magenta and I have been walking buddies ever since her arrival at LPCHS. She is a dog who knows her own mind, and often tells me where we're going to walk on any given day. She is the definition kindness and gentleness. She recently visited the kids at Park Elementary's summer camp program, and behaved like a champ. A little overwhelmed at first, but in her defense, it was a group of 40 excitable kids. I've never once seen Kayenta act aggressive towards people or other dogs. She genuinely cares and loves her fellow dog friends. She's not demanding of treats, and is pretty picky about what you have to offer, but I was able to find one bacon treat that she is quite fond of! Kayenta's favorite place for scratching is her hind quarters. Magenta would be a terrific addition to any family. Come by and say hi, you won't be disappointed.

Meet Bindi: The Dog Who Missed the Memo 🐾🐱 At first glance, Bindi may look like a dog... but after about 30 seconds, you'll realize she's actually a cat who somehow ended up in a dog's body. Bindi is an independent queen with impeccable taste and absolutely no interest in pretending otherwise. Here's what you should know about our one-of-a-kind girl: Bindi enjoys attention and she does in fact love affection...on her terms. She may gracefully weave between your legs or rub against you as if she's blessing you with her presence. This does not automatically mean she wants a smothering hug. Unauthorized cuddling may result in a look that says, "Excuse me?" Please do not get us wrong, she LOVES attention and affection, she just has a limit. We did say she was more like a cat...right? She loves toys... just not with you. Toss her a toy? Thanks, she'll take it from here. Bindi prefers solo entertainment and doesn't see the need for a human co-star in her play sessions. She just loves knowing you're close by to watch. Think of yourself as an audience member, not a teammate. She has her toy, she has a plan, and she's got it covered. Bindi isn't your typical dog, and that's exactly what makes her so wonderful. She's quirky, independent, hilarious, endlessly entertaining, and completely herself. If you earn her trust (which doesn't take much), you'll discover that beneath the cat software running on dog hardware is an incredibly special companion with a personality unlike any other. Thank you for respecting Bindi's boundaries, appreciating her uniqueness, and accepting that she will always be the one in charge. We don't make the rules. Bindi does.
