Story
Russell is a Golden Retriever Lab Mix approximately 7-8 years old, weighs about 45 pounds This beautiful boy survived a hoarder house fire, and we rescued him along with five of his mates who have slowly adjusted to their individual homes. Russell and his pal Sophie are taking a little longer to overcome their trauma, but they are not particularly bonded and can be adopted separately. Russell is very good with people, likes men and women, is very friendly, easy going. He is extremely shy and takes several weeks to come to you, but once there is trust, he attaches! Russell needs someone who is at home since he has severe separation anxieties. When you are not at home, he will require an industrial grade crate because he will try to get out at all cost. No kids, teens fine, loud noise and sudden movement scare him. He is scared of dogs other than Sophie so we recommend him as your only dog so he can bond deeply with you and establish trust. His foster writes, “Russell needs a fenced yard since It terrifies him to put a collar and leash on him; once on he does okay and follows your lead. A fenced yard where he can lounge would make him very happy since he is not very active. He loves lying around. and especially being close to you once he establishes he is safe and that you will protect him.” Russell absolutely needs an experienced owner who is around 90% of the time. His foster explains, ”When he is with a person he trusts, he is a very calm, easy going dog . He must have his security blanket - which is a ball, at all times. He will cry if he does not have one. He needs a home as the only dog so that he can have free range of movement, or with his sibling (Sophie). He absolutely panics when I leave the room, even for a few minutes and will do damage if not crated . He has to be able to see you. Once he is with you he truly is the best dog ever. " This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog's description. We are only able to respond to questions once a completed application is received https://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. We do not respond to questions about our dogs sent through email or social media. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed and age assessments are based on visual appearances.May 6, 2024, 10:08 am

Story
Koda is a 5-year-old, 46lb Siberian Husky. Calling all Siberian Husky lovers! Meet Koda, a loving boy who is on the calmer side for a Siberian Husky. While Huskies do require a fence, this guy doesn't make any effort to jump over the 6-foot fence at his foster's house. He is house broken, crate trained, and really just wants to be with his person. Koda would need a house with no small dogs or cats but gets along well with bigger dogs. He is fully vetted and ready to find someone who can give him the love he needs! If you are interested in adopting Koda, please apply online at www.crisisdogsnc.org. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. To ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We provide transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!May 6, 2024, 10:08 am
