Millie is a 2-year-old Retriever mix with brains, beauty, and boundless energy - but what she needs most is someone who sees her potential and is ready to help her shine. This girl is smart, active, and eager to learn, but she needs the right match: an experienced, dog-savvy adopter who can guide her through training, structure, and consistency. Millie is working on her manners and obedience as part of our Pawsitive Pawgress Program, and she’s already made great progress. She’ll come with three free training sessions after adoption to help continue her journey at home. Millie will need to be the only pet in the home and would need an adult-only household. Due to her energy level and learning needs, her adoption may require multiple meet-and-greets to help set everyone up for success. She’s not a beginner dog. She’s a diamond in the rough—full of heart, potential, and drive—just waiting for the right person to believe in her. She has been waiting over a year now, and we would love for her to find her match. If you're up for the challenge and ready for the reward, Millie is more than ready to meet you.

Story
Hi! My name is Daisy, and yes, I am a Golden Retriever. As you might guess by my name, I am a girl and am almost 4 years old. I just got spayed and got ALL my shots, so I am up-to-date and ready to be adopted. My old family couldn’t keep me, and I really, really miss having a family.I love to sleep (with you, in your bed), love to play ball, love to walk (although I need help learning better leash skills- I tend to want to walk in circles). I REALLY like to ride in the car, especially if I can get a pup cup!   I can sit and down on cue, and love to learn. My foster mom is trying to teach me to shake! I lived with a 4 year old human, a cat and a small dog.I get along very well with kitty cats. I take a few days to get to know a dog before I trust them. I sometimes get a little unsure and even a little grumpy if the other dog gets too close. Once I know they are friends I will love them for life, so please give me a few days to adjust.  I am very, very well house-trained and will bark and whine when I need to go outside. I love to eat. The vet that just saw me “Fat shamed” me and said I was a little round. I disagree. I think I am a delightfully Pooh-sized Golden who never gets enough snacks. My foster mom says I am an almost perfect Golden, super sweet! Her adoption fee of $300 covers her spay, microchip with registration, vaccines, negative heartworm test, and current monthly flea and heartworm preventions.  Please apply at gfrpets.org/apply ##2666448##
