Case #59708781. Nutmeg was born 1/1/25. Nutmeg is really just a big puppy still, she's barely a year old. She was surrendered for being too active. She does have a lot of energy, that's what puppies do! She's also extremely sweet and playful. She was kept mostly outdoors, she's not been housetrained, but goldens are smart and we're confident she'd learn that skill quickly if shown the way. This gorgeous dog is just perfect and will make a great family dog! Come visit Nutmeg today, she'll dance into your heart! This dog has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and is current with shots according to its age. Adoption fee is $90.00 cash or check only.

The boy who`s smile never leaves his face, despite his past. Zimba is a 1 year old Retriever/Labrador mix who recently found himself in our care as a stray. He was microchipped, but his owner never came to reclaim him. Leaving him to wonder where they might be. As time went on he realized he would need to find a new family. Despite all of this, he wakes up every day in his kennel with a smile on his face. He is a big-ol 70lb boy who is dog friendly, walks well on a leash, knows sit, and would love a home with a yard. Izzy is a one-year-old Retriever mix who found her way into our care as a stray in July 2025. She’s now spent five months in the shelter.Izzy is as sweet as they come. She loves spending time with the people around her, but she’s also wonderfully independent — happy to quietly relax nearby or entertain herself with a toy. She’s great with cats, dogs, and she especially enjoys snuggling up with canine friends for a cozy nap.She recently resided in a foster home and her foster mom describes her as one of the easiest dogs to have in the house. She’s fully potty trained, doesn’t need to be kenneled, and will spend the day happily snoozing on the bed or playing with her toys until you return. She’s gentle with her toys, often napping with them for comfort, but she’ll also happily play a round of fetch when you’re up for it.Listening is where Izzy truly shines. She’s eager to please and already knows several cues including sit, stay, paw, leave it, heel, and takes treats gently. She loves to be outdoors, but only if you are by her side. She loves enrichment games, frozen treats, and lick mats — all things that keep her sharp and content. She rides beautifully in the car and is a great companion for public outings. Izzy is heartworm negative, up to date on all vaccines, and will be spayed upon adoption. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who’s as easygoing as she is affectionate, Izzy might just be the perfect fit to join your pack.

Toby is an 8 month old male retriever mix. Toby is a spunky goofball. Toby enjoys playing with other dogs, running around the playyard, cuddling with humans, going for long walks, and playing with toys. Toby is heartworm negative and already neutered. Toby would love for you and your family to come stop in and meet him! Come adopt from the Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM)! Each year HSSM houses approximately 7,000 homeless pets. Every day we are fighting a space capacity crisis as we try to care for the overwhelming amount of abandoned local pets. If you have a question about one of our adoptable animals, give us a call at (228) 863-3354, email adoptions@hssm.org or stop by from 10am-5pm Tuesday-Friday or 10am-4pm Saturday. Walk-ins stop 30 minutes before close. We are located at 2615 25th Ave in Gulfport. Come to our back parking lot through our adoptions entrance.
