Story
5 years old. Harley is not good with small dogs. He is very playful and jumps on them and hurts them. He is perfect with cats and even tiny kittens. He absolutely loves children and loves to play. I am recently widowed and had to go back to work full time. I am not able to monitor him constantly with my senior tiny pups anymore. It’s very stressful for me. And he needs more interaction. It’s not fair to him 🥹

Story
Meet Charlie!Charlie is a 4-year-old Lab mix weighing 82 pounds, and he’s every bit the lovable goofball you’d expect! Full of smarts and silliness, Charlie is affectionate, toy-obsessed, and always ready to make his people laugh with his big personality. This clever boy isn’t just playful—he’s also a pro at showing off his tricks! Charlie knows sit, down, shake/paw, high five, and even speak. He loves having the chance to learn and perform, especially when there are treats involved.Charlie would do best in a home with kids 13 and up who can respect his boundaries and give him space when he needs it. When it comes to other dogs, Charlie prefers to be the center of attention and may be happiest as the only pup in his new home. And because cats just aren’t his style, he’ll need a feline-free household too.If you’re searching for a big-hearted, playful companion who’s equal parts goofy and loving—with a few party tricks up his sleeve—Charlie may be the perfect match!Come meet Charlie at the Humane Society of Summit County, 752 West Portage Trail, Akron, OH 44313, or call us at 330-487-0333 ext. 803 to learn more!

Story
Looks, personality and great companionship!♥️ If handsome man Diesel Bear was on a dating app, these words (along with sweet and affectionate) would be flashing across his profile next to his picture 😊He offers a calm, laid-back lifestyle. He likes to sleep in until 10am and still takes quick naps here and there throughout the day. When it is time for exercise, he looks forward to neighborhood walks, park walks or walks anywhere with you. He walks wonderfully on a leash, follows on command and will keep to himself if you tell him to leave it if he encounters another dog(s) on his walks. Previously attacked by a dog, Diesel Bear now thinks he has to be on guard when he encounters a dog. Almost like a ‘don’t get me, I’ll get you first’. Other fun outdoor activities for Diesel Bear are playing fetch and chasing deer :/ A home with an enclosed yard is preferred but if you don’t have one, you must anchor his tie out or runner to a sturdy structure, like a post or giant tree. Anything else, Diesel Bear will yank that right out :/ Come summertime, Diesel Bear makes a great date for patio dining. Not only is he fantastic with people, but he also takes treats nicely and does not beg for food. He just hangs out. At home, Diesel Bear is a grazer. 3 cups a day left out will do the job. He is super smart, makes training easy. He knows sit and is learning stay. Diesel Bear is a 75lb, 4.5-year-old Mix breed (we think either Golden Retriever mix or Newfie mix). He is looking for a quiet, relaxed home where he can be a companion to his humans. He is game for any outdoor adventures. A home with an enclosed yard and no other dog(s) is preferred.

Story
Meet Jameson and Jones, an adorable bonded pair of mini Goldendoodles who are searching for a forever home TOGETHER. These sweet boys were surrendered to the shelter when their owner fell on hard times and they’re now hoping for a fresh start with a family who can welcome them both with open arms—and maybe a comfy couch or two.Jameson and Jones are both 4 years old, with a birthday of September 8, 2021. Jameson is the smaller of the duo at 31 pounds, while Jones weighs in at 41 pounds. According to their previous owner, both boys are housetrained and crate trained, and they’ll need regular professional grooming to keep their curly coats looking dapper and feeling their best. They love children and other dogs. If you have a resident dog, you must schedule a meet and greet with Jameson and Jones. Cat compatibility is unknown. Jameson is playful, incredibly lovable, and full of happy energy. He has an overall medium energy level and enjoys being on the move, especially on walks where he likes to explore everything at once. He may need a little extra help with leash manners, but his enthusiasm and charm make him easy to adore. Jones is very friendly and a bit more independent than his brother. He loves to take his time sniffing out all the good scents on walks and is easy to walk on leash, making him a relaxed and enjoyable walking companion. Jones can protect his food and toys from others, so we are asking for older respectful children. Both boys are available through our foster-to-adopt program, which allows you to welcome them into your home while they complete their veterinary care, including neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and heartworm testing. If you’re willing to open your home and your heart to both Jameson and Jones, please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and submit an online dog adoption application for both boys. The adoption fee for both dogs is $375.
We'll also keep you updated on Jones's adoption status with email updates.
