Story
My name is Arlo. I only have one eye...My left eye did not develop, so Dr. Isbell is going to fix it for me on January 6th. Latrell has promised that I will take a nap and when I wake up, it will be all fixed up. My brothers tease me now, but Latrell & Daina remind me every day how special I am. When Latrell took me to see the doctor the first time, I sat on the seat on a quilt and didn't even need to be crated because I am so smart and well behaved. The doctor said that I was a very handsome boy and I was perfectly healthy otherwise. I can run and play and keep up with my brothers just fine with just one eye. My mother was pregnant with us and it was obvious that we were soon to be born. The person that my mother lived with took her far away from all she knew as "home" and pushed her out with nothing, no shelter, no food not even water. A kind man found her on his land and knew that we were about to be born any day. He took mother to his home and the six of us were born 2 days later. The man had a friend that knew about Greg King Canine Recovery Dog Rescue so they were contacted and that began our best lives.....we are all fat, healthy, vaccinated and ready for a real home, where we will be loved and cherished and never have to worry about a growling tummy because there's not enough to eat and never have to worry about what happened to mother.....and toys.....we love toys, but food and vaccinations HAVE to be bought first with the money donated to the rescue, so there aren't many toys, but Daina and Latrell have promised that our new homes will have more toys than we have ever dreamed of. Application link https://forms.gle/mtaWGXgjgBRLat1T7 The total cost of adoption is $175. If you pick up from our rescue in Texarkana, Texas, there will not be a transport fee, so adoption would only cost $100 which helps cover the costs of vaccinations, Vet visits and puppy food. Only the $75 transport fee is due to secure transport from our rescue in Texarkana, Texas to one of the 7 locations on our transport route. The $100 adoption fee is not due until you pick him/her up on the transport date at the location you select. You also have the option to designate someone else to pick up your pet. Please watch our reels on Facebook; Search "Greg King & Greg King Canine Recovery" Greg King Canine Recovery dog rescue is located at 484 Farren Road in Texarkana, Texas 75503. Once a month, we transport all pre-adopted dogs and puppies to the following 7 cities. We are a foster based rescue, but due to a lack of available fosters, we have approximately 75 with us here on our 2.2 acres that Greg, Daina and I (Latrell) love and care for until they can be adopted. Poplar Bluff, Missouri Arnold, Missouri Springfield, Illinois Bloomington, Illinois Rockford, Illinois Joliet, Illinois Kalamazoo, Michigan Please contact me, Latrell King, at 903-280-4233 for adoption questions. Please send a text before calling and then you can also leave a voicemail because I don't usually have my phone with me when I am taking care of the puppies, cleaning kennels, feeding, vaccinating, etc. I will return your call or respond to your message ASAP. Once you complete an application, we will process it to get it approved. If it is approved, I will send you the "Approval Letter" via text followed by the "Transport Roster Information form" The Transport Roster Information form will guide you to select your pickup location and provide links to pay the $75 Transport fee. The adoption fee is not due until you pick up your new dog/puppy on the scheduled transport day. Following are ballpark estimates of our arrival at each transport location. I will also send a live Google Map link so that adoptive parents can follow our travel progress from one pick up location to the next. 1. Story
Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 1/21/2026:  Dirty Bones - male - approx 1 year old - 28.4 EMACIATED) pounds - Some type of doodle mix Reason for intake:  Dirty Bones showed up around Deen Point Road and Veterans Parkway.  Many of the locals tried to capture him but he eluded capture for nearly two weeks...crossing busy Veterans Parkway back and forth.  When he finally stayed in one spot, we set a trap.  Since we never had eyes on him... only pictures... we didn't anticipate his size.  One of the ladies we had been communicating with saw the trap set and realized it was too small.  They graciously went to our rescue and grabbed our mammoth trap and set it.  The early morning hours of the following day, one of the people who had been trying to help him, stopped at the sight and there he was.  She messaged Ninna.  Ninna saw the message pop up and got dressed and well, the rest is kind of history.  He is EMACIATED under all the matting and he was SO THIRSTY!   He's heading to our groomer and then to the vet the week of 1/26/26.  We HAVE notified animal control that we have this dog so they can start a stray hold.  He knows "sit"... "give paw" and possibly "lay down".  He is neutered.  He is not chipped (well, he is now because we chipped him immediately).  Stay tuned! NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings.
