Story
4/28/26-Update: Ever had one of those days where you just flop on the couch and call it a wrap? 🛋️ Chip says, "Same, friend. Same." 🐾 Chip is making huge strides in his foster home! Check out his latest "pupdates": ✨ Confidence Boost: Hardwood floors used to be scary, but he’s finally conquering the "slippery" zones without running for his life. 🏃‍♂️💨 ✨ Social Butterfly: He’s learning to slow down and soak up all the pets from the neighbor kids. 👧👦 ✨ Cuddle Bug: While he’s still working on his "jumping beans" habit, his favorite thing in the world is still a good snuggle. 🫂 Chip is looking for a forever home. Could it be you? *** Adoptable Alert! Meet Chip! This 4-year-old Labradoodle (ish) has quite the story. He was a surprise stowaway during a breeder surrender —he just knew he was ready for a better life, and our team couldn't leave him behind! Chip is currently living his best life yet in foster care but is looking for his forever home. As you can see from his photos, this guy is absolutely over the moon to finally have human love. Chip is officially ready to find his forever people. Here is what his perfect match looks like: 🏠 Professional Snuggler: He wants to share your couch, your bed, and your heart. He’s looking for someone who loves a velcro dog! 🚗Adventure Buddy: He travels like a pro! If you want a co-pilot for road trips or errands, Chip is your guy. 🌳The Great Outdoors: A physical fence is a must. Chip gets the zoomies and needs a safe space to do his happy laps. 🤝Company Preferred: He needs someone patient enough to teach him that you’ll always come back. 🐕‍🦺👧Friends & Family: He can be an only dog or live with a well-matched buddy. He’s curious about kids but a little shy, so a home that understands he needs a slow intro to fast-moving little ones is best. ✂️ Grooming King: Being a doodle, he needs a spa day every 6–8 weeks (approx. $100/visit) to keep that coat handsome and mat-free. Chip is still learning big dog basics like potty schedules, not jumping when excited, and commands like sit and shake. He doesn't use a crate in foster care. It is unknown how he would do with cats. If you’re looking for a loyal, happy, and slightly goofy companion to grow with, Chip is waiting for you. Apply today! https://grroiowa.org/adoption-information/

Story
Hi, I’m Tango — an 8-year-old Goldendoodle with a golden heart, a goofy grin, and a deep passion for belly rubs, road trips, and balls (especially the squeaky kind). In September 2023, I suffered a spinal stroke that left my back legs paralyzed. My family loved me so much, but they knew I needed more care than they could give, so in April 2024, they entrusted me to the amazing team at APL and that’s when my comeback story really began. Since then, I’ve made incredible, unexpected progress. With regular rehab, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, and lots of encouragement, I’ve gone from scooting to walking with help, and sometimes even on my own! I can cruise around with and without my custom wheels like a champ, especially if there’s a ball to chase or an adventure to be had. And speaking of adventures….I’ve recently made a pretty big move. I’m now living in Colorado at a canine health resort alongside other differently-abled dogs like me. I get to soak up the fresh mountain air, continue my therapies, and spend my days building the sweetest friendships. It’s been such a special experience, and I’m thriving here. I’m still available for adoption through my rescue, and we’re hoping this new chapter helps me meet even more people, maybe even "my" people. The more folks who hear my story, the better the chance that someone out there knows exactly where I belong. Back to the fun stuff! I’m always ready to go. I love car rides, public outings, strolls through the park, and pretty much anywhere my people are headed. I’ll happily roll up to a brewery, hop into a café, or join you for a sunny patio lunch. I’m not picky, as long as I’m included. I also happen to be the world’s most enthusiastic ball-chaser. I may have some mobility challenges, but if there’s a ball in play, you better believe I’m going after it. I’ve got a mean fetch game and determination like no other. People are my other favorite thing. I’m incredibly social, gentle, and friendly with everyone I meet (kids, adults, other dogs…) I’m just happy to be part of the fun. I don’t chew things I shouldn’t, and I’m always ready to cuddle. I do need a little help with potty time a few times a day, but I’ve even started doing that more on my own lately. My team will show you the ropes and it’s easier than you might think. I'm looking for a family that sees beyond my different abilities and appreciates my incredible spirit. A household that’s patient, loving, and ready to welcome me just as I am. I promise to reward you with boundless love, endless joy, and a companionship that runs deep. If you're looking for a loyal, loving sidekick with a story of resilience, a wag that never quits, and a suitcase packed for life’s next big adventure, I’m your guy. So, what do you say? Want to roll through life with me? Tango is up to date on vaccinations, 4DX tested, microchipped, and neutered. He will come with all his cool gadgets so you can easily take him along on adventures. Applications to meet Tango can be submitted at: https://www.aplanimalrescue.org/dogs
