Story
This sweetheart is Missy, a senior Goldendoodle. She weighs 62 pounds. Missy loves everyone. She does great with other dogs, kids, and cats. If we had to describe Missy in one work it would be joyful. Missy is happy 24/7. Missy came into rescue as an owner surrender. Her owners divorced and left her in the home they both moved out of. Neither of them wanted her. They originally got Missy several years before that when Missy’s original owner died and she was left alone in that home. They had never taken her to the vet. Missy was a hot mess. She was matted and hadn’t been groomed in years, she couldn’t even see. She smelled worse than a hog confinement in July. Our vets sedated her and shaved her. Under all that hair she had a lot of cysts, warts, and lipoma’s. She had a dental, several cysts removed, and her ear infections treated. Missy recovered from that surgery and two weeks later we removed a large lipoma on her chest. It was impeding one of her legs from moving freely. Missy was throwing up a little bit each day but we figured it was from all the antibiotics and pain meds she was on. One morning she threw up a plastic resistance band used for physical therapy. It was over two foot long. Missy went to the vet again and had x-rays and an ultrasound. There was something else in her tummy. She had another surgery and an 18”x18” shop towel was removed from her tummy. We know she didn’t ingest these things in our care, so they had to be in her tummy for over a month. We can’t imagine how hungry she must have been to eat these things. We don’t know exactly how old Missy is. Our guess is somewhere between 10 and 12. She is playful and runs the yard in her foster home to bark and chase off the deer. The only time we have heard her bark is chasing the deer away. Missy loves car rides. If she gets near an open car door she is in and ready to go. Missy has great house manners and has never bothered with anything she shouldn’t at her foster home. Like most old ladies Missy has some health issues. She still has a lot of lumps and bumps. All of them have been checked out and aren’t harmful to her. She has lenticular sclerosis – her eyes are cloudy. She probably can’t see a squirrel two blocks away, but she can see a deer. Her hips and knees have some arthritis. She takes a joint supplement and pain reliever every day. Missy was with us several weeks before we figured out that she didn’t hear well. She is so attentive to her people and always watching so we didn’t notice at first. She hears louder noises, whistles, and claps. She also has a collapsing trachea which causes her to cough several times a day. When Missy goes out she wears a harness, so a collar doesn’t aggravate her trachea. She requires a physically fence yard because she doesn’t hear well and shouldn’t have anything pulling around her neck. Because Missy has old girl hips she slides around on slick floors. She needs carpet or area rugs so she doesn’t fall. Missy does stairs but should not have to do a lot of them in her home to go in and out. She would prefer to live on one level. Missy is housetrained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Story
Malibu is the sweetest girl! This 2 year old standard poodle is friendly and fun! Her pictures just don't do her justice! Malibu is looking for a family of her own! Malibu was lucky enough to get a doggy day out with one of our fabulous volunteers. Here is what they had to say about her! Malibu was another wonderful surprise! She was so cuddly and lovable. She put her paw on my knee while driving, gave kisses and enjoyed sitting in the shade for snuggles. When we allowed her to run, she pranced like a show horse. She never barked and was very chill. A total delight! Someone will be very lucky to welcome her into their home. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please fill out an application, using the link below.
