Story
Maple is a beautiful female Dane mix (b. Feb 2024) who would love to become part of your family.  It takes her just a little time to trust new people, but she's gained massive amounts of confidence in the time she lived with her foster parents and fur siblings!  She would do best as the only dog in the home.  Maple does well with cats, even if she doesn't entirely understand them. She's potty trained and does well in a kennel overnight, as long as she has enough blankets inside. However, once she gets older, I think this girl would much rather cuddle up in bed with her people. :) Meet Maple Bacon Croissant. This girl is ready to find her forever home! Here are a few things about her… Likes: Soft, comfy things. Beds, blankets, pillows, other furry siblings. You name it, she'll lay on it. Food. Maple will do anything for a biscuit. TOYS. Especially if she can play tug of war with her Golden foster brother, even better. (Dish towels work in a pinch, too!) Dislikes: Swishy pants. They make WAY too much noise. (Maple would also like to point out that this is 2024, not 1980.) :P Slow feeders. How dare her humans make her eat slower! But it's a necessary evil. Gravity. Her foster mom has lost count of times she's rolled straight off the bed or couch! She might be okay with older kids (age 10+) due to her size and energy level at times.  She has done fine with a 4' or 6' fence.  She's also been okay when left out of the crate during the day, no accidents and hasn't chewed anything.   Maple may need to be an only pup - she can be dog selective when it comes to her playmates, so any adopter with a resident dog would likely need several meet and greets to make sure it’s the perfect fit for everyone. We want to find a home with people that will shower her with love and attention. Please give this give cuddle bug a forever home, she deserves the world. The suggested adoption donation for Maple is $475, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Looking for a majestic, outrageously elegant house horse?Meet Maevis, a 1.5-year-old Great Dane with legs for days, a love for humans of all sizes, and a personality as big as she is. Maevis is smart, striking, and has had some professional training. She adores people, does well with other large dogs, and has even reportedly lived with a cat. That said, Maevis has a very firm opinion about small dogs (especially under 20 pounds) and it’s a hard no. Her veterinarian has shared that this sensitivity can be common in her breed, and it’s something we take very seriously. Maevis is currently working on muzzle training, and she’s doing great. She approaches training with enthusiasm, a touch of dramatic flair, and impressive cooperation for a dog her size. We’re focused on giving her the structure, tools, and guidance she needs to succeed long-term, and she’s already making meaningful progress. Because Maevis’s only known challenge is her reaction to small dogs, we are being very intentional about her placement. Behavior modification for this type of issue can be specialized and costly and is beyond what we’re able to fully provide in a shelter environment. We are, however, connected with a trusted, qualified trainer who can support her future family. Our goal is to set Maevis and her adopters up for success from day one through management, training, and realistic expectations. Maevis is looking for a home that can offer: No small dogs (non-negotiable) An experienced, confident handler who understands large dogs and big feelings A safe, controlled environment where surprise encounters with small dogs are not part of daily life A home setting (not an apartment) that allows for responsible management After a few past encounters that made her preferences very clear, Maevis has firmly decided she’s a big-dog-only kind of gal. Despite her strong opinions, Maevis charms us daily with her goofiness, intelligence, and couch-sized hugging abilities. She’s a larger-than-life companion who will thrive with someone ready to manage her world thoughtfully and appreciate her for the confident, expressive dog she is. If you love a dog with presence, personality, and clear boundaries (and you’re committed to helping her navigate those) Maevis might be your perfect match. Come meet her and see all the amazing things she’s learning while in our care as she waits for her forever home!  If you’re ready to welcome Maevis into your family, please fill out an adoption application at townandcountryanimalrescue.org The adoption fee is $350 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission. If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee. It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.***** If you are interested in any of our animals, please fill out an application on our website www.townandcountryanimalrescue.orgYour application will be reviewed, and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home. The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster. If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission. ##2299034##
