Story
Meet Fergus – Gentle Giant!Fergus is a 2-year-old neutered Great Dane who was sadly surrendered when a baby in his home turned out to be allergic — but don’t worry, he’s not bitter about it. He’s way too busy carrying plush toys around like emotional support stuffed animals. This gentle boy takes treats politely but honestly doesn’t care that much about food. What does motivate him? Walks. All the walks. Fergus loves getting out and about and has been steadily improving his leash manners since arriving at the shelter. He’s affectionate in that “leans his entire dinosaur body into you” kind of way and will happily soak up all the love you’re willing to give. His previous family reported that Fergus is housebroken, rides great in the car, has basic obedience, is friendly, and isn’t the type to test fences or make a run for it. He’s got a good foundation and would really shine with a training class to polish up his big-boy skills. If you’re looking for a loving, plush-toy-hoarding, couch-sized best friend who just wants to walk with you and be adored, Fergus is ready to stomp straight into your heart.

Story
Polo is what happens when you mix a giant puppy body with a permanent case of FOMO. This playful, energetic goofball lives for action — especially chasing balls… which he absolutely will not bring back. He prefers to sprint after them like an Olympic athlete and then look at you like, “Why would I pick that up? You have legs.” Polo is super friendly and loves people of all sizes — adults, kids, and most dogs are his jam. He’s housebroken, rides like a champ in the car, and takes toys very seriously. If there’s fun happening in the house, Polo needs to be in the middle of it. Closed doors are suspicious. Quiet rooms are unacceptable. Family time is mandatory. Now, a couple of real-talk notes: Polo was surrendered for being aggressive with cats, so this big dude is looking for a cat-free home. He can also be a little selective with other dogs, so a meet & greet is always a good idea — he just wants to make sure the vibes are right! If you’re looking for a lovable, playful shadow who will chase balls, steal hearts, and insist on being included in literally everything you do, Polo is already warming up his zoomies just for you.

Story
Goofy is about 3 years old. He is housebroken. I adopted him from the Albuquerque Animal Welfare Center in mid-March. He received medical attention and various shots. I can provide the medical record if you adopt him. He seemed to be trained and had manners when he came with me. I think he has become bored and depressed. I work from home and lead a very sedentary life. I thought, as part Great Dane, that he would be okay. I also thought I would be able to give him more attention during the day, but that is not the case. He needs a home that has stimulation. The mix in his genetics is probably a dog that needs a job. He loves my 12 yr old nephew, but small children or slight persons may find him intimidating. He loves to put his paws on my shoulders. I have heard this is a type of doggie hug. He loves to sit with his back to me so I can pet him or give him a bit of a massage. He loves to be petted. He sleeps on the floor, in his bed, and on the couch.
