Story
Cleo is a beautiful one-year old female Great Dane who was surrendered by her owner to the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden on December 11, 2025. This gorgeous young lady has a sleek dark gray/slate blue coat with a patches of white on her throat/chest, a long tail, and a classic Great Dane face with expressive brown eyes, a blue/gray nose, a large muzzle, and floppy ears which frame her beautiful face. These photos of Cleo were taken on January 19th 2026 when HSOV Kennel Techs Emma Dahlgren and Liz Stingley spent time with her in the lobby of our shelter. Cleo was being showered with attention from Emma and Liz, and all three enjoyed socializing with one another. Cleo was relaxed with Emma and Liz, and she posed elegantly while showing off her lovely physique .. And Cleo had learned to 'sit pretty'. Cleo had been on a safekeeping status when she entered our shelter since she was very underweight and weighed just 65 lbs on December 11th 2025. Our compassionate HSOV staff/kennel techs have taken great care of her with extra gourmet food and extra TLC. Cleo is available as of February 7, 2026 as "Foster-to-Adopt" only. She will be spayed before being officially adopted. If you would like to give Cleo a loving home, please complete/submit an HSOV Adoption/Foster application for management approval. UPDATE: Cleo went home with a foster family on February 10, 2026 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed. Cleo came back to HSOV on February 18th 2026 because she did not like the cat (or the man) in her foster home. Cleo was jealous of one of the other dogs in the home, but she was good with the woman, children, and another dog ... Which would suggest that Cleo is selective of which dogs (and men) she accepts into her circle of friends. So Cleo is available again as a foster-to-adopt. Update: Cleo was spayed on April 20, 2026 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Albus is a handsome 2 year old male Great Dane mix who was brought to the HSOV on March 4, 2026 and, unfortunately, was not reclaimed by his owner. Albus has a snow white coat, long legs, a long tail, and a beautiful black-and-white face with Great Dane features. Albus may look familiar to many of our HSOV Facebook followers since he was in our shelter in the Fall of 2025 and was eventually reclaimed ... These photos of Albus were taken on September 19th when HSOV Kennel Tech Emma Dahlgren spent time with him outdoors and helped him with his best poses. Albus loved the opportunity to stretch his long legs and run a few laps around Emma. Albus even surprised us with some yoga poses (naturally he excelled in the 'downward dog' position) (smile). Albus weighed 57 lbs that day and was fairly strong on a leash. Albus knows basic commands (sit, shake, and easy). He is very treat motivated and has a sweet, outgoing personality. Albus is good with cats. Since he was not reclaimed, we will have Albus neutered and find him a great home. Albus could be fostered-to-adopt while he is awaiting his neuter procedure with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.
