Story
Meet Amaya 🌸 A gentle, radiant soul who’s endured far more than she ever deserved — yet she still greets the world with a wagging nub and a big, joyful smile. Amaya’s story nearly ended before it began. She came to the shelter as an euthanasia request, unwanted once her owners realized she could no longer be bred. They didn’t want to wait for an open space — but thankfully, the shelter team couldn’t look away. Her blissful, loving spirit shined too brightly to let her story end there. Today, Amaya is a living reminder of resilience and grace. She has a warm, radiant energy that lights up every room and makes everyone she meets smile. She’s a social butterfly, always ready to make new friends and share her gentle love. She adores other dogs — even keeping up with her energetic 8-month-old puppy pal like it’s no big deal! Though Amaya has chronic dry eye from years of neglect, she doesn’t let it slow her down. She just needs a bit of TLC — a quick eye wipe after naps and lubricating drops once or twice a day keep her feeling her best. Right now, Amaya is proudly enrolled in the Hamilton Hounds Prison Program, where she’s perfecting her already-wonderful manners, mastering leash walking, and learning new tricks. She’s incredibly food-motivated, loves a good tug-of-war, and thrives on praise and affection. Amaya is soft, soulful, and endlessly loving. She dreams of a family who will cherish her gentle heart and maybe give her a little “princess treatment” — especially when it comes to mealtime (a spoonful of wet food makes her day!). ✨ Amaya is the full package: kind, cuddly, loyal, and luminous. She’s ready to bring her blissful heart and radiant spirit to the forever home she’s always deserved.
