Story
Viktor is currently fostered in Mentor Ohio, and his adoption fee/donation is $150 Update 10/4/2021 Viktor was seen at a Behavior clinic and is on medication for his anxiety issues and not being able to be leashed. His foster said he is making progress with wearing a leash but it is slow going. He is doing well with the other dogs in the foster home. Victor update 4/23/2020 Viktor Requires a fenced yard with direct access from the living area Victor has really settled down A LOT in his foster home!! In fact he has really bonded with one of his foster fur brothers (Jasper) The two of them have become like peas and carrots!! They do everything TOGETHER! Sleep together, play, run, chase, practically attached at the hip. We are so impressed with how well he is doing. However we recently had him stay with a different foster home for a day or two, just to see how he did away from his normal environment, and away from Jasper. We wanted to test him, and see if he was ok, and not revert back to the old “FERAL VICTOR” Well unfortunately he reverted back to acting extremely feral in the new foster home. He would not allow anyone in the house to touch him, he constantly ran away from any and all human interaction. He would find a corner to hide in and just shake and tremble for hours. Once they were able to get him outside in a fenced yard, he kept running around the yard, trying to get away, and it took over an hour to get him back in the house. Victor CANNOT be leashed to this day. If his foster tries to put a leash on him, he freaks out, and pulls, thrashes trying to escape his collar to get away. After trying the different environment, we had to get him back to his original foster, we couldn’t let him be freaked out like he was any longer. Once he was back “HOME” he went right back to being his happy self, and was SO HAPPY to be back with his Buddy Jasper!!! He is going to need a very experienced, special adopter, one that has a SECURED fenced in yard, this is a MUST, there are NO EXCEPTIONS!!! They will need to have at least one or two other dogs for him to bond with, as he cant handle being an only dog, because of his feral background. The best case scenario for victor, would be to get adopted along with his buddy jasper (2 yr cocker spaniel special needs). It would be the best possible home for him, but we realize this is not an easy thing to do, it is our wish though, that this could happen for both of them. Original Bio Hi there, My name is Viktor, I am a beagle mix of some sort, and I am only 2 yr old. I had a rough start in life, I was born in the wild to feral mother dog, and the animal warden had to trap me to catch me!!! I was so fearful of humans, I had no social skills at all, and took quite some time to come around when being near humans. I am happy to report, that I am now ready for adoption!! I am able to be petted, loved on, and live like a real dog, isn’t that so cool!! I am living with many other foster brothers and sisters, the four-legged kind that is. I get along well with them, and like to play, I still have a ways to go when it comes to being leashed, and walking without freaking out!! I will need a forever home that has at least one other dog, because I get my confidence from them, it’s a comfort mechanism for me, and I would be sad if I were alone without another dog as a friend. I need to be in a fenced in yard when I go outside, I am learning about something called housetraining, and I think I am catching on. I do my business outside when my foster mom puts me out, but I do still occasionally make a mistake. I am used to my crate, and I stay in there every day when my foster mom works, you see it keeps me out of trouble!! I am a small dog, only about 20 lbs, I am full grown, and will not get any bigger, so if you are looking for smaller, then I could be your dog!! Oh, I do have a bad habit of chewing things, so I am told I am not supposed to do that. I like to chew, its fun, but these humans tell me that is NOT NICE, and I get into trouble when I chew up something.I will work on being a good boy, I promise, I just need to be trained I guess, can you help me? I will give you lots of love in return!!! Viktor is neutered, current on vaccines, and is heartworm negative.
