Story
Some dogs have a way of making a house feel a little more like home, and Harriet is one of those special girls! With her gentle personality, affectionate nature and love for finding the perfect cozy spot, Harriet brings a comforting kind of sweetness wherever she goes. She's the type of girl who will happily curl up beside you for some quality cuddle time, then wander off to find her favorite resting place where she can quietly keep an eye on everything happening around the house. She enjoys being close to her people while having a little independence of her own, making her a lovely balance of companionship and calm. Watch Harriet on YouTube to see her sweet personality, playful side and the lovable girl behind those beautiful eyes! https://youtu.be/xkAgmDtGe5c Harriet is a tenderhearted sweetheart with a medium-to-low energy level and a wonderfully easygoing approach to life. She enjoys a peaceful environment, comfortable places to rest and spending time with the people she trusts. While she appreciates having a little time to get acquainted, her personality begins to blossom as she settles in. Once she feels comfortable, Harriet reveals a playful, affectionate side that makes getting to know her even more rewarding. One of Harriet's most endearing qualities is her love for cuddling! Her foster describes her as a true snuggle bug who enjoys curling up close for a few hours before finding another comfortable spot to relax. Sometimes that means sharing the bed with her favorite person, while other times she prefers stretching out on the couch. She especially enjoys choosing a cozy spot where she can observe the household, almost as though she's quietly checking that everyone is settled and accounted for. It's an adorable little habit that gives Harriet a personality all her own. Harriet also has a lovely playful streak! As she grows more familiar with her surroundings and the people around her, she begins to show her fun-loving side. She appreciates a nice balance of activity and downtime, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys a little playtime followed by a relaxing evening at home. Her gentle nature and affectionate personality make even the simplest moments together feel special. Harriet has also spent time in a foster home caring for her puppies, giving her experience with the routines and comforts of home life. Now she's ready for a wonderful new chapter where she can enjoy being someone's cherished companion, discover her favorite activities and receive plenty of affection of her own. Harriet would thrive in a loving home that appreciates her gentle personality, affectionate nature and relaxed lifestyle. She would be a wonderful match for someone who enjoys quiet evenings, cozy cuddle sessions and a companion who is happy to spend time together while also being comfortable relaxing independently. A patient family who allows Harriet to settle in at her own pace would help her feel comfortable and let her playful personality shine. With her medium to low energy level, she could be a lovely fit for a household that enjoys leisurely walks, relaxed afternoons and occasional bursts of fun. Harriet may also be able to share her home with a cat, provided introductions are gradual and everyone has the opportunity to become comfortable together. Her ideal family will appreciate her sweet temperament, give her plenty of cozy places to rest and enjoy building a lasting bond with this special girl. Harriet doesn't need constant excitement to have a wonderful day. Sometimes all she wants is a comfortable couch, a little affection and the reassurance that her favorite people are nearby. She's ready to trade her days of caring for her puppies for a lifetime of being loved and cared for herself. If you're looking for a gentle little sweetheart who can be your cuddle buddy, quiet companion and occasional playmate, Harriet might be the missing piece that makes your house feel like home! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6a977abad8fa5ffd6305c6df Questions? Story
Name: Hezly Nickname: Hezzo. Hesleyan University. Hezzo Bezzo. Leelee. Breed: Havanese Sex: Male Age: ~ 4 year Weight: 11.5 lbs. Before OMD: OMDR took Hezly and 3 of his housemates into rescue when a local animal shelter impounded over 50 animals from a hoarding case. There were 23 matted, under-socialized dogs covered in urine and feces. Hezly, Suni, Simone, and Jordan have been with dedicated OMD foster families learning what it means to live in loving homes, “how to dog” and, of course, receiving their vet care. Energy level: Slow-mow in public, medium-high at home. Confidence level: Low in public, high in his home. Hezly is very unsure about the outside world – which isn’t surprising given his history and the likelihood he was never brought outside the first year of his life. His fear does not result in any aggression, but he will pancake, make himself small, and/or freeze. What we love most: His innocent nature and his little attempts to try and be brave. His bunny hops. How he melts into you when you pick him up. How incredibly sweet he is. What he loves most: Chewing. Bones. Hopping and running through the yard. Food. Playing with his foster (dog) brothers. Sleeping in bed with foster family. What he doesn’t love: Coming inside when it’s a nice day outside! What he knows: Not much tbh. He’s learning “how to dog” and be confident in the outside world. Working on: Confidence. Independence/being alone – He absolutely wants to be right with his people when they are home and has a hard time (barking and crying) when they leave. His foster family is working with him on this, but he will do best with a family who is not consistently gone for long periods of time. Kids: 8 years and up please! He has not shown any aggression to people, but fast-moving, loud kiddos will make him very nervous. Dogs: Yes! Hezly would do best with another canine companion. Currently fostered with Suni, and another male small dog and is very playful. He will often bark initially at a new dog, and he does need to chew his bones and toys separately from other dogs. Cats: Should be fine! He went nose-to-nose with a neighbor senior cat and had no reaction. House-trained: He came into rescue completely not house-trained (again, unsurprising given his history) and he is making solid progress! He is certainly not 100% but he is getting there and will thrive with a family who has patience and can stick with routine. Crate-trained: Yes. He is currently crated when home alone and he does protest, but settles down eventually (until he knows you’re back home and will then start his protests again!) Hezly is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.

Name: Suni Nicknames: Sooner. Grandpa. Slowpoke. Suni cum laude. Breed: Havanese Sex: Male Age: ~ 4 year Weight: 11.5 lbs. Energy level: Medium-high. Confidence level: Medium. He is very confident in his foster home, but has moments of uncertainty in the outside world – which isn’t surprising given his history and the likelihood he was never brought outside the first year of his life. He is overall more confident than his foster brother, Hezly, but still has moments of timidness. What we love most: His gentle soul. How curious he is. His “don’t you stop petting me” pawing at you (which, we suppose, could be annoying to people who aren’t as obsessed with their dogs as we are…). When he rolls over and somersaults up against you. When you go to put on his harness and he stands up to help you. The noises he makes when he plays with other dogs. His Einstein-esque wispy eyebrows (yes they’ve been trimmed!) What he loves most: Playing with his foster brothers. Being right on top of foster mom. Chewing bones. Snooping around. What he doesn’t love: The car – he’s gotten car sick a few times. What he knows: Not much tbh. He’s learning “how to dog” and be even more confident in the outside world. Working on: Independence/being alone – he absolutely wants to be right with his people when they're home and has a hard time (barking) when they leave. His foster mom is working with him on this, but will he do best with a family who isn't consistently gone for long periods of time. Kids: 5+ please. He has not shown any aggression to people (and was drawn to the kiddo he did meet!) but very young chaotic, loud kiddos can make him nervous. Dogs: Yes! Suni, would do best with another canine companion. Currently fostered with Hezly and another small male dog and has proven to be very playful. He will often bark initially at new dogs, but warms up quickly. Cats: Should be fine! His approach to life is generally slow and gentle. House-trained: He came into rescue completely not housetrained (again, unsurprising given his history) and he is making solid progress! Welcome Annabelle to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 20-pound sweet Dachshund/Havanese is our best guess. She has a curly coat and curly hair on her tail. She is about 5 months old. She is very sweet. She was found on the streets. She doesn’t jump up, is good with other dogs, good in a kennel, very non reactive around lots of dogs and a busy shelter. She is a very mellow and lower energy dog. She is what we call “perfect” temperament in Rescue. Since she is relatively quiet, she would be fine in a condo, apartment or shared wall situation. She is sturdy and would make a great walking companion. She won’t need lots of walks or exercise to be happy. She is getting spayed soon and is topping up and getting her vaccinations. She could go to a moderately to lower active family. She would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpalrescue.org See her cute video
