Story
Edith is a beautiful young female Husky who was brought to the HSOV on October 19th 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found her near the Hi-Vac Corporation on Industry Road in Marietta OH. Edith was not wearing a collar, and she was not microchipped. Edith has a white short/medium-haired coat, a long fluffy tail, and an adorable Husky face with pale blue eyes, a slender muzzle, and large erect ears. These photos of Edith were taken on October 24th 2026 when HSOV Volunteer Angel Grosklos accompanied her for outdoor glamour pictures. Edith was initially full of playful energy and quickly relaxed for some beautiful poses when Angel sat down with her on a bench near the front of the shelter. A few of the outdoor shelter mascot kitties joined Edith in her photo session, and she paid no attention to them. Edith has a slim trim physique and could easily gain a few pounds to fill out her girlish figure. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Edith was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Since Edith was not reclaimed, we are accepting adoption applications for her and will find her a fabulous new home.

Story
Jackal is a handsome one-year old male Australian Shepherd/Husky mix who was brought to the HSOV on August 20th 2026 by an individual who found him on State Route 821 (between Interstate-77 and State Route 60 in Washington County Ohio). Jackal was accompanied by his companions (Badger and Puma) who are surely his siblings. All three of the boys were wearing a collar, but there was neither an ID tag nor a dog license tag on their collars ... And they were not microchipped. Jackal has a tan-and-cream medium/longhaired coat with subtle black shading, a long extra fluffy tail, and a beautiful Shepherd/Husky tan face with a white stripe on his forehead, a black button nose, a white ring around his slender muzzle, and large erect ears. Jackal's left eye is pale blue while his right eye is brown. Jackal and his relatives all have incredible extra-fluffy tails (the largest fluffiest tails we've ever seen by far .. almost as if they were sporting hair extensions to enhance the length and volume of their tails) (smile). But we can vouch for the boys and report that their tails are indeed natural with no fake extensions. Thanks to HSOV Volunteer Jennie Sherrard for accompanying Jackal for his outdoor photo session. Jackal posed beautifully and was careful to make eye contact with the camera so that everyone could see his stunning eye colors. He gave Jennie several nice hugs while still gazing at the camera. Jackal weighs 36.5 lbs. He did fairly well walking on a leash and was happy when Jennie took him for a short walk after he was finished with his glamour shots. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Jackal and his siblings will be held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that their family will have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. Jackal has an adoption hold as of September 24th 2026 pending a meet-and-greet. Update: Jackal went home with a foster family on October 6th 2026 who plans to adopt him after he is neutered. Unfortunately Jackal was returned to HSOV on October 13th since he appears to have some separation anxiety issues and was displaying destructive puppy behavior (chewing etc) .. And Jackal is still working on his housetraining routine.
