Story
This is Shinju… it means Pearl in Japanese. Shinju is about 2 yrs old, she weighs approximately 60 pounds and is a husky-pit mix… at least that’s what everyone thinks. Shinju has a medical condition that is managed well with medication and like many of us, she does have a little bit of baggage from her past. Shinju is a very sweet and loyal dog who does well with people and other dogs, although she can be cautious and nervous at first. She is up-to-date on her shots and vet appointments. She is crate trained; in fact, she loves her crate and it is her preferred place to sleep when it’s bed time. She loves attention, treats and belly rubs. She has attended a 6-week puppy training class and knows her name and these commands: sit, no, car ride, walk, high 5, go potty, and shake. She likes long walks around the block, trail hikes, jumping and running around in water, and she really loves playing in and eating snow.

Story
Where's all of our HUSKY lovers?!?! Quill needs you!! We are guessing he is about 1. He was picked up after he had an encounter with a porcupine while fending for himself for quite some time. He is now healed up and ready for his new husky-savvy home. Quill seems like he's had a rough go at life and needs someone who is willing to gain his trust and teach him that life with a comfy couch is better than life in the wild! Quill has done fine around cats and kids. He would do best in a home with another confident, playful dog to help him feel more comfortable. If you are interested in Quill, please fill out our pre-adoption application on our website, hsuv.org.

Story
Dante is a medium-sized husky that will surprise you with his manners! He knows many commands & more importantly, is one of the most potty-trained pups we've ever seen (he will NOT go potty in his kennel!). Like nearly every pup, he's dog selective & has spent many hours happily playing with other similar sized dogs...as long as they let him be in charge, he wants to play! Most of his playdates have been pit or lab blends. Like most huskies, Dante has a high prey drive & will chase everything from flies to squirrels so he needs to be in a feline-free home & isn't seeking playdates with lap dogs (who he can mistake for a cat!). He LOVES walks. He could walk & walk if you let him & needs a home committed to daily walks or playtime in the yard. Dante needs a home who can appreciate his need for space & gives him time to adjust to new people & surroundings. He has never lived with children. In our opinion, the perfect new owner would be a mature single person or couple (he does prefer ladies) who can let Dante show affection when he wants, will take him for walks, & simple let Dante lead the relationship. Fenced yard or no yard with walks outside is a must. Like all huskies, he's an escape artist & needs boundaries.

Story
Kimber is a beautiful husky with an award-winning smile who loves to play with her bone, knows several commands ("sit, "paw & "kennel). She hasn't lived with children in the past & therefore "adult sized children 12+ are preferred in her next home. She has a very sweet personality & takes treats very nicely. She hasn't had prior experience living with other dogs to our knowledge, but has done well with the dogs that she's been introduced to here & loves to play with another male husky here. She has spent quite a bit of time in a home without a fence & it has caused her to lack the proper access to exercise that she needs to thrive, therefore a fenced home is mandatory. Kimber's adoption fee has been 100% sponsored by a community member! Due to her former owner's work schedule, she's used to being crated for up to 9 hours each day. Although Kimber was surrendered due to housing/lifestyle changes that have nothing to do with her, the former owners were also concerned with the amount of time she was spending in her crate. Kimber needs a steady home where she can learn to trust the humans who take care of her, which would help ease her anxiety of being alone. She has a huge heart...our staff & volunteers have fallen in love with her.

Story
Ross would do best in a quieter home without too much hustle and bustle. This may be a home with no children or older kids. He would likely benefit from a confident adult canine companion. Ross seems to be fairly aloof and somewhat uncomfortable being separated from his littermates but is able to relax when given a bully stick. He does not want to be picked up or held much right now, so it will likely take Ross some time to adjust to being in a new home. Ross has not shown any signs of resource guarding from people. He would likely do best in a home with another canine companion. Must live in a home with a fenced yard. No holds! First come first serve inside the shelter.
