Story
Cheri has sponsored Susie Lou so she can find her forever home with no adoption fee. Freshly groomed by Ashley, who generously donated a professional spa day, Susie Lou is now ready for her forever home. Meet Suzie Lou, a spayed female who is 3 ½ years old. For the past two years, she has brought joy to her admirers while running with a local dog sled team. Suzie Lou adores other dogs, people, and especially children. She has a laid-back personality, but she’ll always keep you entertained with her playful antics. Suzie Lou would happily snuggle on your lap if given the chance. Having lived outdoors for the last two years, she may need a gentle refresher on indoor manners, but her love for the outdoors remains strong. She would be an excellent companion for an active family looking for a loyal and fun-loving dog. Suzie Lou enjoys long walks, exploring new sights and smells, and would thrive in a home where she can be included in family adventures. With patience and consistency, she’ll quickly adjust to household routines and become a beloved member of the family. Whether you’re looking for a running partner or a cozy friend on the couch, Suzie Lou is ready to bring happiness and laughter into your home.

Story
This inquisitive girl was brought into Second Chance as a stray. After finding that her owner was suffering from long term health issues that meant he could no longer care for her we agreed to take her into our care, and she has been such a lovely resident. But she is still looking for her new home. Nyx is curious and energetic, while at the shelter she is always thrilled to investigate her surroundings. Though she is also quite well mannered, especially on the leash. She loves the water. Nyx is about five years old and was reported by the owners to be a Siberian husky mix. She has done well with other dogs though observations suggest she may not be well suited for a home with cats. Like all dogs at SCAA she has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. If you would like to learn more about her please reach out to at SCAA at 208-267-7504 or by email. We hope to hear from you soon!

Story
Hi, I’m Tuka 💛 I’m a 2-year-old Husky/Shepherd/Malamute mix, and I’m looking for a patient, loving home to call my own. I came to the shelter through no fault of my own, and while I’m safe now, I’m still learning that the world can be a kind and gentle place. I’ll be honest—I can be a little shy when we first meet. New people and new places make me nervous, so I might need some time to warm up. But if you’re patient with me and let me go at my own pace, I promise I’m worth it. Once I feel comfortable, my true personality starts to shine. I’m a gentle, proper lady with a silly side that comes out when I’m happy and relaxed. I really love being around my people and thrive on human connection—it just takes me a little time to trust. One of my favorite things is being outside. I enjoy going on walks, and I walk phenomenally on a leash (if I do say so myself!). Exploring the world with someone I trust is one of the best feelings. Even though I’m not a puppy anymore, I’m still learning. I’m figuring out that new faces can be friendly and that routines help me feel safe. Once I recognize my people and settle into a routine, that’s when I truly blossom into the loving, loyal companion I’m meant to be.

Story
Meet Stormy — your blonde, blue-eyed bundle of zoomies💙 This shepherd–husky mix is sunshine wrapped in fluff, with energy for days and a personality that keeps life interesting. She’s super puppy-like, loves to play, and fully believes every moment is the perfect moment for fun. Loud noises can make her pause and say, “Um… what was THAT?” — but she adjusts quickly with a little reassurance. She’s smart and eager, but will need continued training and structure to help her grow into her best self. True to her husky roots, Stormy may have a touch of escape-artist curiosity, so a secure yard and watchful eye are a must. She can also get over-excited and start “talking smack” — this girl is not a quiet one! Expect sass, commentary, and dramatic storytelling. We’re unsure how she does with other dogs, cats, or kids — but we’re happy to give it a shot with proper introductions. Stormy would thrive in an active home ready for adventures, laughter, and a little lovable chaos. If you’re looking for a fun, spirited sidekick with stunning blue eyes and lots to say, Stormy’s your girl 💙
