Marshmallow has been busy growing up, building confidence, and discovering just how wonderful life can be! This handsome, stocky boy has blossomed over the last few months into a sweet, eager-to-please companion who is ready to show his forever family what a good boy he can be. ❤️
When Marshmallow first meets you, he may be a little shy and timid. But give him a little patience, some gentle pets, a pocket full of treats, and a few good scritches, and you'll start seeing his true personality shine! Once he knows you're one of the good ones, he's all about the cuddles, affection, and snack time. 🥰
Marshmallow originally came to rescue with one of his siblings, Sweet Potato, from a South Dakota reservation, where they were saved from euthanasia. Since then, he's been working hard on his confidence, manners, and basic obedience, and we're so proud of the progress he's made!
🐶 A Social Butterfly with Four Paws! Marshmallow does great with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends to hang out with and play. Wrestling is a favorite, especially when he can flop down and play from the ground! He adores children and is more comfortable around them, although he's still polishing his manners and learning to keep all four paws on the floor when he's excited.
🐱 A Cat-Free Home, Please! Marshmallow has made wonderful progress with his reactions to cats and can now walk past them without reacting. That's a big step forward! However, we want to set him up for success, so a home without cats is still the best fit for him. He also has a prey drive toward smaller animals and birds, but he's learning that “leave it” means moving along, and he can successfully redirect his attention.
🎓 A Good Student Who Wants to Make You Proud! Marshmallow walks nicely on a leash, loves to please, and continues to improve his basic manners and commands. He's kennel trained and house trained, with only rare accidents while adjusting to a new schedule. Routine helps him feel secure, and he thrives when he knows what's expected of him.
🚗 Adventure Buddy or Couch Cuddler? BOTH! Marshmallow enjoys walks, exploring pet-friendly stores, and tagging along for car rides. He's an active boy who appreciates getting out and about, but he's not asking you to climb mountains every weekend. Trails near home, neighborhood strolls, playtime with a dog friend, and quality time with his people are right up his alley. After a little activity, he's happy to settle in for some well-earned cuddles.
Marshmallow is looking for a patient, loving family who will continue building his confidence, provide a predictable routine, and celebrate all the little victories along the way. He may need a moment to warm up, but underneath that initial shyness is a sweet boy who genuinely wants to connect with his people and do his very best.
