Story
Puka – Smart, Social, and Ready for Her Forever Home 🐾 Location: Medicine Hat // Breed: Jack Russell Terrier Mix // Sex: Spayed Female // Age: Approx 1 year// Weight: 22lbs // Dogs: Yes, she loves dogs! // Cats: Only tested quickly but did great // Kids: Tested with dog savvy kids 6-12 and did well // Energy Level: Moderate – thrives with daily activity and mental stimulation // 🐾Biography: Puka is a bright, affectionate, and eager-to-learn Jack Russell mix who is ready to find an active and engaged home. While she enjoys relaxing with her foster family and they describe her as "chill", Puka is an intelligent breed mix who does best with regular exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation. She loves the outdoors—especially snow—and her favorite activity is playing fetch. She happily returns the ball and is motivated to learn new skills. Puka walks well on leash, greeting people with polite curiosity, and she enjoys the company of other dogs. She has done well with children aged 6–12 and is comfortable with both men and women. She has met a cat briefly and showed no inappropriate behavior after the initial greeting. 🐾Home Life & Training: Puka is crate trained, sleeping quietly through the night and settling well when left for short periods. She is doing very well with her house training with proactive routines in place. She travels calmly in the car and adapts quickly to new routines, demonstrating her intelligence and willingness to learn. She is currently working on foundational training such as recall, “leave it,” and gaining additional life experience. 🐾Ideal Home: Puka would do best in a home that can meet her physical and mental stimulation needs - walks, play sessions, enrichment, and positive reinforcement training. An active individual, couple, or family with dog-savvy children would be a great fit. She would enjoy living with another friendly, playful dog but would also do well as an only dog if her people are home often. 🐾Summary: Puka is an affectionate, intelligent, and well-mannered young dog with a wonderful foundation. With continued enrichment and structure, she will thrive as a loving companion. She is ready for a home that will appreciate her mix of sweetness, smarts, and playful enthusiasm. Momma dog is a Jack Russel Terrier but we have zero clue on daddy dog. These 5 have wonderful personalities. all different but all wonderful. A blank slate at this stage in age. Curious, playful, friendly, affectionate little puppies Stay tuned while we prepare their bios. Puppies must be picked up in Calgary area. If interested, please visit our website and fill out an application at http://www.nobordersanimalrescuesociety.ca/adoption-form-2/ Adoption fee $800 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No Borders Animal Rescue Society (NOBARS) We are a registered non profit society. All our dogs are vaccinated, sterilized and are fostered in homes with families. NOBARS believes that a dog is best assessed for a new home environment by living in one!!!! Therefore we do not use kennels, but have a network of approved foster homes where our dogs can be properly assessed before being offered for rehoming. Our foster homes offer a varied range of experiences which means we can choose an appropriate foster home for each dog, but it also means our dogs are able to experience situations which are invaluable to owners looking to take on a new forever friend, such as children, cats and other dogs. http://www.facebook.com/NOBARSRESCUE?ref=hl http://www.nobordersanimalrescuesociety.ca Adoption fee $800

Story
Hi, I’m Sarang. 🧡 I’m a 2-year-old boy, small enough to fit right into your arms at just 6kg. I’m a Jack Russell Terrier mix, but people say I’m more like a tiny bundle of gentleness than a terrier. My story didn’t start easy. I was abandoned when I was just a baby and ended up in a shelter. I was even put on the euthanasia list… but someone saw me, believed my life mattered, and rescued me just in time. That’s why I’m here today — a little miracle with a very big hope for a family. Because I grew up in a small, crowded shelter, I learned to be careful with the world. I’m a bit shy and quiet when I meet new people. I like to keep a tiny bit of distance at first… just enough to feel safe. But once I realize someone is kind, patient, and gentle, I slowly open my heart. And when I open it, I really open it. I can take treats from your hand, lean into your arms, and show you affection I’ve kept tucked away for so long. I once stayed with a foster family for a short time, and they said I was an angel — calm in the car, easy to care for, and incredibly sweet. I’m living at a training center now, and I get along well with the other dogs. I try my best not to bother anyone, because that’s just who I am: small, polite, and quiet. I may be tiny, but inside me is a very soft heart that just needs a little time and a lot of love. I haven’t had many chances to experience the world yet, so I’m still learning how to show my feelings. But if I find a real family — someone who won’t rush me, someone who understands my slow pace, someone who will treasure my small but brave heart — I know I’ll bloom. I don’t need much. Just a patient hand. A warm lap. A home where I can finally relax. A family who will help me replace my early memories with new, happier ones. If you choose me, I promise to try my very best — day by day — to trust more, love more, and show you the sweet, gentle boy everyone keeps saying I am. Please adopt me, and let me learn what happiness truly feels like. I’m waiting for the person who will call me family. 🧡 — Sarang

Story
🏠 Currently in a Vancouver foster home I’m a small Jack Russell Terrier mix girl, around 6kg, with a beautiful leopard-patterned coat that everyone says is super charming. I was rescued while wandering the streets with my sister Seri, but even after all that, I’ve grown into one of the happiest, warmest little puppies you’ll ever meet. I get along wonderfully with other dogs and adjust quickly to new places and new friends. I’m very affectionate with people, too — call my name and I’ll run right over, or I might quietly tuck myself right beside your leg, just wanting to be close. Walks are my absolute favorite! I’m full of curiosity, so I love sniffing around, exploring new sights, and enjoying every moment outside. Even with all my excitement, I don’t pull or rush ahead, so walking with me is always pleasant and easy. Since I’m still a puppy, I’m learning my potty training skills, but I’m smart and quick to pick things up — I’ll get the hang of it with gentle, consistent teaching. I may be small, but I have a big, warm presence that melts hearts the moment you meet me. I’m waiting for the family who will love me forever and let me share my bright, curious energy with them. If you can give a cozy, loving home to a little girl full of wonder and affection, I’ll give you all the love in my tiny body in return. 💛 With love, Nerie 🐶✨

Story
Location: Airdrie, AB // Age: Approx 9 months // Size: Approx 15lbs // Energy Level: High puppy energy // Sex: Spayed female // Dogs: Yes // Cats: Not Tested // Kids: Not Tested but older dog savvy kids are likely okay // **Meet Fifi 💕** Fifi is a playful, goofy puppy with a heart full of love and the cutest little underbite you’ve ever seen. When she’s happy, she looks like she’s smiling—and it’s impossible not to smile back. She’s still very much a baby, learning how the world works, and she’s looking for a patient, dog-savvy home that’s ready to help her continue building confidence. 💕Fifi is a high-energy puppy who *lives* to play—especially with other dogs. Having a confident canine friend around her size is a must for her. She takes comfort in following their lead, plays endlessly, snuggles up with them, and gains confidence just by having them nearby. A home with another playful dog will help her thrive. 💕She can be shy and skittish at first, especially with handling, being picked up, or new experiences like leashes and car rides. She’s currently learning that harnesses and walks are nothing to fear and will need continued positive, force-free training at her own pace. Treats, patience, and gentle encouragement are the way to her heart. Once she feels safe, she seeks out affection and truly enjoys being petted. 💕Fifi is crate trained and sees her kennel as her safe space—she happily runs into it at mealtimes and sleeps through the night. House training is still a work in progress, but she’s making great improvements and is learning to go both outside and on pee pads. She’s a smart girl and already picking up on routines just by watching her dog friends. 💕She does show some resource guarding with high-value items, which has improved significantly with management and positive reinforcement. Continued guidance and appropriate introductions with new dogs will be important. 💕One important thing to note: Fifi has an underbite, which gives her extra charm—but it also means her teeth should be monitored at her annual veterinary exams to ensure her dental health stays on track. It doesn’t slow her down one bit, and it certainly adds to her unique personality. 💕Fifi would do best in a calm, patient home with: * At least one friendly, small, playful dog * A positive-reinforcement approach to training * Time and understanding to let her come out of her shell * Mental and physical enrichment to match her puppy energy 💕With love, structure, and the right canine companion, Fifi is going to grow into a joyful, devoted dog. She’s still learning, still gaining confidence, and still figuring out how wonderful life can be—but she’s ready to do it with her forever family. 🐾💖 If you'd like to chat with our team about meeting Fifi, please complete an application: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form
