This sweet boy was found as an emaciated stray in Daviess County, but despite his rough start, he hasn’t lost his playful spirit or love for people. Now healthy and thriving, Duncan is ready to leave his past behind and start fresh with a forever family who will love him as much as he deserves. Weight: 20 lbs Energy level: Medium. Toby loves to explore his yard or go for a leisurely walk on leash but is equally happy to stay close and snuggle with his human. Good with dogs? Yes. With respectful introductions, Toby is comfortable with other dogs. He has lived with other dogs before and would likely do quite well with another dog companion in his new home. Good with cats? We don’t know much about Toby’s interactions with cats. Good with kids? We don’t have information about Toby with kids. Older kids may be okay if they’re willing to be patient, reward him with treats, and let him warm up when he is ready. Rough housing is not his style. Medical/behavioral needs: Toby has no known medical needs. Is he house trained? Yes! Animal Characteristics: Toby is smart, observant, and likes to stay close by his favorite people. He tends to enjoy a quieter household. He shows great loyalty and will make someone a solid companion. He is wary of strangers and needs slow and careful introductions. This could mean saying "no" to the well-meaning neighbor he does not know who wants to pet him on leash during a walk or simply by moving him to a separate part of the house when strangers or repairmen come over. Toby needs time to know and trust new people.
