Story
Sugar is just as sweet as her name!  She is a Terrier mix, born 9/23/24.  Sugar LOVES toys!  She's curious and playful.  She is going to need a lot of time to warm up to her people - so PATIENCE is a must - BUT her foster mom says after a couple weeks, she's become the cuddliest little sweetie and asks for tummy scratches like they're going out of style!  Sugar also loves running and playing with other dogs.  She's quick to make dog friends at all of her play dates.   Sugar needs a fenced yard to zoom around in.  We think it would be helpful for her to to have a confident dog sibling to show her the ropes.  It would also be beneficial for Sugar if her person is home most of the day and not gone for long hours.  Sugar is nervous around young kids.  We think she would be okay around calmer kids that are a little older (age 10+). Sugar is working hard on potty training and she is partially potty trained.  She uses a potty pad or goes outside.  She will need someone with patience and dedication to help her master this skill.  UPDATE from her foster mom 4/4/26 - Sugar has made excellent progress with potty training and is doing pretty good!  It has really helped her to have a routine and regular opportunities to go outside. If you're interested in meeting Sugar, please contact us or apply today! The suggested adoption donation for Sugar is $475, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2608859##

Story
Jack is a Jack Russell mix, born 2018.  He's a mature gentleman and knows what he likes.  He LOVES to cuddle and is definitely a lap dog.  He is very food motivated.  Jack likes to jump very high so he needs to have a 6 ft fence, otherwise he's able to get over the fence.  He also loves to chase squirrels - if your front door is open, he will run out!  He loves to go on walks and is always very excited when it's time to go.  Jack is leash trained, crate trained and housebroken. Jack would do well in a home with one person because he tends to resource guard people.  He will try and nip someone if they get too close to the person he is sitting on.  When he is by himself with a person, he will sleep and cuddle and is generally a very calm dog.  He would NOT do well in a home with children because of his tendency to be protective.  Jack does really well with one person because there's a lot less stress for him.  Muddy Paws has trainers available to help with this so that Jack and the potential adopter can feel more comfortable. If you're looking for an older guy that is past the puppy stage, Jack just might be the one for you! The suggested adoption donation for Jack is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. Story
Arlo is a loving 6 y/o smooth fox terrier mix. We rescued him as a ~1y/o and now he's well potty trained, follows basic commands (sit, stay, go bed, go kennel, come) at home, and walks well on leash with minimal pulling - unless he finds a strong smell. He's a smart, big sniffer who loves to cuddle and hidden treats/reat puzzles. He can be shy at first, but a good game of fetch or tug will win his heart. He loves car rides, pupcups and going to big department stores and street markets, and prefers dog parks for sniffs instead of zoomies with others. He can maintain moderate- high energy play, thriving more from mental stimulation than physical, but for mostly he's calm, observant and chill - struggles with being alone/separation anxiety. Going through life-changes, housing moves, and unable to meet Arlo's needs with current busy schedule and circumstances. Looking for a home that can accomodate his loving nature and needs.
