Story
Nod is neutered Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix born about February 2024. He was found as a stray (Nod is a biblical name that means “wanderer”) and is being fostered by a very nice family who have become fond of him. Unfortunately their dog doesn’t like sharing the home, so they can’t keep him but will foster until Nod gets a good home. He loves to snuggle and not at all a “wild” terrier. He is house trained, leash trained, good with dogs, seems to ignore cats, and is very happy. Adoption fee is $95.    This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to: https://rutherfordcountyhumanesociety.org/dog-adoption-application/ We are located in Western North Carolina.     Optional transport is weekly.  After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery if you so desire.December 15, 2025, 4:32 pm

Story
Meet Lizzie, a resilient survivor with the softest coat and the sweetest heart. Lizzie’s story began behind a Piggly Wiggly in Camden, AL, where she and her friends Buster and Belle were struggling to survive. Severely emaciated, covered in ticks and fleas, and frightened by the busy world around her, Lizzie’s chances looked slim. But with rescue, safety, and care, she blossomed into a healthy, happy pup. Now her true personality shines. Lizzie is endlessly snuggly and sweet, the kind of companion who loves nothing more than curling up close. Her short coat is silky soft, and her gentle nature makes her a joy to be around. Lizzie has made a full recovery and is thriving, but her heart still beats strongest when she’s near her best friend Buster. Ideally, these two inseparable companions would find a home together, where they can continue their journey side by side. If you’re ready to open your heart to a loving, resilient pup (or maybe even two), Lizzie is waiting to meet you.

Story
Louise was adopted from a rescue that brought her here from Louisiana. I've had her since she was a puppy and she is now 12 years old. She loves hiking, is good on leash, and isn't bothered by other dogs on the trails. She is a sweet dog who is ok around children but she hasn't had much time around them. She has a brother, Benny, who is up for adoption as well. Benny is the only other dog she should live with. She is terrified of flies, but is otherwise a happy, low maintenance dog. Louise deserves a good home with someone who has time and space for her to play in her remaining years. Crate provided (she chews when alone too long).

Story
Meet Isabella!! From Spins to Snuggles — the Rodeo Clown of Your Heart Isabella is a 2-year-old, 40-pound Jack Russell terrier mix (with a sprinkle of mystery DNA and a whole lot of personality). She’s sweet, silly, and just quirky enough to keep you laughing. At first, she might hang back and size you up — her “is this human cool?” test. But once you pass, watch out: you’re getting kisses, wiggles, and a lifetime subscription to her comedy show. Her signature move? The spin. When she’s happy, Isabella goes full Spinderella, twirling on her back feet like she’s auditioning for Broadway. Add in her zoomies, her famous “pancake flop” when she’s not ready to move, and her bob-and-weave routine that makes clipping her leash a sport, and you’ve got front-row seats to the funniest rodeo in town. And once the leash is clipped? Boom — she’s off like a racecar at the Indy 500. But don’t let her rodeo clown energy fool you. Inside, Isabella is a world-class snuggler. She settles beautifully with a toy or a cuddle and will happily trade in her rodeo boots for a quiet night in. She’s crate trained, house trained, walks well on leash, and has a wonderfully balanced energy: playful and spunky outside, calm and affectionate inside. She’d adore a fenced yard to show off her spins and zooms, and while she loves the company of other pups, she’d also thrive as the star of your show. Isabella isn’t just a dog — she’s joy, laughter, and love bundled up in one bouncy, goofy package. If you’ve been waiting for a best friend who’ll make you laugh daily and love you endlessly, Isabella is ready to lasso your heart.
