Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Pico will be arriving in Maine on 10 May 2025 We are happy to accept and process applications before she arrives. Pico was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas  arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine at the end of April. We post our available dogs in states across the east coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes to find perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs, families must come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet and then hopefully take home. Pico is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, and in March 2025 weighed 9 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of February 2021.    We can not say for sure what the breed is, we expect families to decide looking at any pictures and video's provide and decide if the breed is a good fit for their family. This is what the shelter relayed from his foster family about this sweet boy: Pico is a wonderful 4-year-old, 9-pound ball of love who has been an absolute joy to foster! He’s the perfect balance of affectionate and independent. Pico is great with both dogs and kids, making him an ideal companion for a family of any size. He’s housebroken and has a great energy level—not too laid back, but not overly crazy either. He enjoys his playtime but is equally content just hanging out and getting some belly rubs or lounging in your lap. Pico is also very tolerant when it comes to dress-up, which is a cute bonus! He loves attention and cuddles, but he’s also happy to do his own thing when the mood strikes. If you’re looking for a dog with a sweet, affectionate nature who can also entertain himself independently, Pico would be a perfect fit for you! Pico is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550, as noted he is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an  adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this sweet boy. Applications are processed with 24 hours of them being received. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Ann will be arriving in Maine on Saturday 10 May 2025 We are happy to accept and process applications before she arrives. Ann was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas    arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine at the end of April. We post our available dogs in states across the east coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes to find perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs, families must come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet and then hopefully take home. Ann is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, and in March 2025 weighed 5 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of November 2024.  We can not say for sure what the breed is, we expect families to decide looking at any pictures and video's provide and decide if the breed is a good fit for their family. This is what the shelter relayed from his foster family about this sweet girl: Ann has been an absolute joy while in foster. She is living with several cats and doing great with them. She listens really well and freakishly good for a puppy. She is doing great with potty training and now does all her pooping outside. She does still pee inside but if you catch her, she will stop if you can get her outside. She is almost there! She does the cutest things with her toys - she plays with them all day and then pulls them into her kennel to sleep with them. She pays very close attention, good recall and will be easy to train. Ann is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550, as noted she is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an  adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this sweet girl. Story
Mercedes is smaller than she looks, she weighs just under 30 lbs. with "shorter" legs. Mercedes is around a year old, she is a very sweet girl with a lot of love to give! She is friendly, outgoing, affectionate, and a curious girl. She's loyal to her people and enjoys the company of other dogs. She is an active girl that loves to run and play with toys. She was recently integrated into a large group of 5-6 month old puppies for playtime and she did well after a 2 day introduction period. She is now one of the group and they do great together! Mercedes is an all-around great dog and should fit in with most any family. Mercedes is a smart girl; she does well walking on the leash, Mercedes is a smart girl; she has learned to sit for treats, which she is gentle taking from you, and sits when it is time to eat. She is treat motivated and eager to please! Mercedes should fit nicely with most any family. We do not DNA test. We rescue animals from different situations. We discuss breed assignments with our vets to label them as accurately as possible.*** We are currently unable to adopt pets to ME and RI residents.

Story
Jack joined the CVHS crew when his family`s life was upended, he was adopted for a couple months, and he`s back with us to find a new home that is the right fit for his needs.New situations make this sweet boy a bit anxious, so he`d prefer a calm home with dependable routines, with someone willing to play fetch, take him for walks, and rides in the car. In his previous home he had a fenced-in yard that he loved to run in, so it`d be great if he had an option for being able to safely run around. He does have a prey drive, as is very normal for his breed, so he should not live around small animals.Jack has lived with dogs in his last two homes, but we think it creates stress for him, which results in soiling and marking behavior, and even gives him an upset stomach, resulting in some vomiting. He has not been around children, and his hesitation with new situations indicates that young active kids may be a bit too much for him, but older (teenager) calm kids might be ok for him. While he`s been back with us, staff and volunteers have been working REALLY hard to help Jack with his `house training`, and with consistent, frequent potty breaks, with lots of positive reinforcement for toileting outside, Jack is now keeping his kennel clean throughout the day! He needs a person who can continue to support and reinforce this behavior, and is home enough to give him the regular breaks he needs for now.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Jack`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Jack.

Story
Our dogs are physically located and fostered in North Carolina until they are adopted. Once they are adopted we can transport them to your location or any of our north eastern delivery locations. We have a a very affordable transporter who comes north every other week. This boy is a Jack Russell mix. He was born 1-4-2023. This boy weighs around 15 pounds and he is extremely social and great with adults and older children and other animals except cats. He likes to chase cats. This boy has been started on crate training and potty training. Willie had horrible skin when he came in. He had a horrible flea allergy. He must remain on good flea prevention such as Bravecto, Nexgard, or similar prevention. We have gotten his skin nearly straightened out. This furbay will go home neutered, current on vaccines, preventives and microchipped. We require a prescreen application to adopt. You can get that on the website at www.saveamuttkennel.net
