Pretzel was born 7/7/25. He is working on house training but it has been so cold, snowy and he had a cast and surgery, so he is pee pad trained. He is quiet in his play yard at night.He is a small dog and has a huge personality. He is a young terrier mix that is a little sassy but so much fun. He has had a history of what appears as abuse due to multiple fractures that were of varying degrees of age and different stages of healing when he came to us. His leg fracture has healed after casting, and he had FHO surgery to repair his hip fracture. He is good with other dogs. Kelvin (6/2/25) was born on St Thomas in conditions that were less than adequate for newborn pups. Kelvin is a classic “coconut retriever” JRT/terrier mix. Mom and Dad are both around 35 pounds. Kelvin has come out of his shell and is doing wonderful in this foster home. He loves being with other pups, is learning housebreaking skills and leash walking and loves toys! It seems that they were in trouble in the past for hoarding animals and they didn't want caught with us. I was a very scared boy at the shelter. One of the nice ladies that volunteer here took me home to foster me. She has been working with me a lot. I was initially terrified of everything, including going outside... now I'm the first one out! I am really enjoying her home. I love her other dogs and her cats too. I will need a very patient family that can continue working with me on potty training, socialization and training. I am very sweet and cuddly once I learn that I can trust you! If you're looking for a sweet little dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Poor little guy just lost his mom who he adored and she adored him just as much. Jack is now looking for someone awesome to love him and make him a member of their family. We think he is a Jack Russell Chihuahua mix. He is also a little on the chunky side. So, trying to help him lose a couple pounds to be a little healthier. But nothing keeps this boy down. He is so darn happy go lucky! Jack is approx 3 years old and weighs around 24 lbs. He is playing so well with the other foster dogs in his home. He prefers dogs around his own size or smaller. Jack is neutered, updated on vaccines, microchipped, flea treated and wormed. He is also crate trained and seems to be housebroken. Regardless if the animal is a mixed breed or full blooded they are spayed/neutered prior to adoption IF they are old enough. If they are too young at the time of adoption, then it is your financial responsibility to spay/neuter the pet by the age of 6 months and you must provide proof for our files that it has been done. All of our pets are checked by a vet, given the shots appropriate for their age and any other treatment deemed necessary by the vet. All of our pets are adopted as indoor pets and are not be outdoors tied to a box 24/7. The pet you are adopting has been living in a home with a foster family. You are expected to take possession of the pet you are applying for within a few days of application approval. This will enable us to accept another pet into that home. Because we are a rescue, and believe that spaying and neutering is crucial in stopping the reproduction of unwanted puppies/kittens and massive amounts of animals dying daily in shelters across the country, we expect any animal already in your home to be spayed/neutered.
