This adorable youngster is Bess, brought by one of our officers as a stray on 3/5 to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. My Dog Scanner app suggests she is a Staffordshire bull terrier mix. She is about 8 months old and weighs 32 pounds. She has very unusual coloring, kind of a brownish/gray coat that is very soft and silky. Her owners have evidently taken good care of her. But for whatever reason, they have not come to reclaim her. She walks OK on a leash, but when led past dogs that were barking at her she became very intimidated. Initially, she was a bit standoffish and timid. However, after some interaction, she warmed up and wanted to climb into my lap! She is calm and does not jump on you. She was not interested in toys or balls. Bess is affectionate and likes to be petted. She knows the sit command. She spent a fair amount of time exploring the room in which I did her eval. There is a lot to like about this sweet youngster, and I feel she is highly adoptable. Her fondest dream is to be adopted by a person or family who would allow her to become an integral part of the family circle living inside, providing a comfy doggy bed, yummy food and unlimited TLC. I feel that in no time she would be snuggling and cuddling and bonding with her people. Please assist Bess if you can in finding that very special forever home in which she will receive the loving and committed forever home she rightly deserves.

DOB - Feb. 10, 2020 Reason for rehoming: My son (owner) moved to Africa. I cannot keep him due to my lease. If he cannot be rehomed, he will have to go to a shelter. The local Akita rescue is not accepting any new dogs. Alpha is a sweet and devoted American Akita looking for a forever home where he can thrive. He is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and naturally protective of his family—once he bonds with you, he is your shadow and your biggest fan. Alpha does have environmental allergies, so he’ll need an adopter who can continue his care and keep him comfortable. He cannot be boarded, so he needs a family who can provide in-home care or trusted at-home pet sitting when traveling. He loves being near his people, enjoys calm environments, and does best with someone who understands large guardian breeds. Alpha will make an amazing companion for the right person or family—someone who values loyalty, connection, and a dog who truly loves his humans.
