Story
DJ (A137705) is 1-year-and-6-month-old Chow Chow who weighed 49.3 pounds on intake! Foster update: DJ had fantastic reviews in foster! He was described as a very well-adjusted and well-behaved dog! But as always, he does have things he could work on! He has a rough style of play with other dogs, but it has never escalated past play! He was stated to do well with all sizes of dogs and cats! DJ was known to be protective over his bowl and wants to be left alone during feeding time. However, he was known to take treats gently! DJ also loves his toys and has never chewed on things he shouldnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t. If you are interested in meeting DJ, please let us know! 03/10/25 This handsome smiley boy is DJ! DJ arrived at the shelter as a stray, so his history is unknown. At the shelter, he has proven to be an independent soul who appreciates attention on his own terms; he is very much a chow chow! DJ has kept his kennel clean and tidy indicating that he may already be housebroken. He has also proven to walk very politely on a leash. We still encourage his next owner to bring him to a basic obedience class to continue working on his manners. At the shelter, we have found that DJ can be selective towards other dogs but will generally try to ignore them and do his own thing. If you do choose to introduce him to other animals, please ensure you do so in a slow, safe, and controlled environment to set him up for success! On arrival at the shelter, we noted that DJ had some medical concerns with his eyes, and he was assessed by the shelter vet. DJ had entropion surgery to correct his eyelashes from rolling into his eyes. He has been doing great with his eye medication! DJ will need to come back to the shelter for a sedated suture removal on 3/24/25. Now that DJ can happily see again without difficulty or discomfort, he is eager to find his new home! If you are interested in meeting DJ, please let us know! April 12, 2025, 11:04 pm
