After being hit by a car, she ended up in a high-intake shelter in Southern California, dangerously close to being euthanized. But Maxine wasn’t ready to give up—and neither were we. Now safe and on the mend, Maxine is showing everyone just how much love and joy she has to give. She’s affectionate, spunky, and always ready to flash her signature smile. While she might take a beat to get comfortable in new situations, it doesn’t take long for her sweet, silly personality to shine. Maxine adores people and gets along with other dogs, but she’s happiest when she gets to set the pace. She may do best as the only dog in the home or with a calm companion who respects her space. She’s got just the right amount of sass and loves to be the center of your world. Maxine is living proof that second chances lead to beautiful new beginnings. Cheyenne is calling all "outdoorsy" people! She will thrive in a rural setting-hiking and long walks with you. She will love lounging around the house, she will come in for some snuggles, and pets, helping in the garden, or laying at your feet while you are at your desk or watching TV. She will also hunt out any rodents that may be lurking - she is into the "sport of hunting".... no small animals for her!! Cheyenne will join you for a car ride anytime! She loves to go! Cheyenne knows many commands and loves to learn new ones; she is praise and treat-motivated. Cheyenne needs an experienced adult only home who can provide her with a good amount of exercise. She is very responsive and bright. She is looking for a calm, relatively predictable setting. Cheyenne can develop protective habits, and thus needs savvy folks that can reassure her and not let her feel like she needs to be in charge and guarding. She is clever and responsive and tends towards independence, but likes to be nearby, and is quite loving and affectionate and can be silly, relaxed and charming as well! A very smart, loyal and loving companion!
