Story
Hello there, I’m Sammy — a handsome black and tan Chow/Retriever mix, about a year old and 39 pounds full of charm. I even have adorable black spots on my tongue, which I hear make me quite the conversation starter. 😌🐾I’m a very polite young gentleman with excellent manners. I already know how to sit, I walk beautifully on a leash, and I keep a very tidy home. I am completely house trained — and I mean completely. I’ll even go potty on concrete if needed. I’m that committed to being a good boy. I also do very well in a crate and settle in nicely. I am especially wonderful with the elderly. I have a calm, respectful nature and seem to understand when to be gentle and when to simply sit close and offer quiet companionship. Older kids do well with me too. Making people feel comfortable and safe around me is kind of my specialty. 🤍When it comes to other dogs, I can be selective. I have a confident, alpha personality, so I would do best with a submissive female if there’s another dog in the home. I don’t care much for most other male dogs. I was picked on before I arrived at the shelter, so I truly appreciate slow, proper introductions to help me feel secure. Once I feel safe, I relax and show my sweet side. I should also mention… I’m not a big fan of hats. Something about them just doesn’t sit right with me. 😅 But hey, nobody’s perfect! One of my absolute favorite things in the world is going for a car ride — windows down, ears flapping, taking in all the smells. 🚗 And if you enjoy taking photos, I do consider myself rather photogenic. I’ve got that soulful stare mastered. 📸If you’re looking for a loyal, well-mannered companion who is completely house trained, crate trained, wonderful with the elderly, and ready to devote his whole heart to his person — I’d be honored to meet you. 🖤🐾****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If not already spayed/neutered, there may be a short delay between when you select this pet and when they are ready to go home.Breed and age are determined based on observable physical traits. Actual lineage and birth date are rarely known.Adoption Fees:-$60 for cats-$60 for dogs over 6 years-$80 for dogs 6 months old to 6 years-$100 for puppies up to 6 monthsCome visit our pets Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm.
