Story
BlueThe interviewer lady (IL) is jumping the gun a bit by posting a profile for me. You see, I am still reeling from being surrendered by my owner in June of 2024 after only living with her for 6 weeks, adopted in September 2024, but surrendered again in January 2026. It really takes a toll on a girl when you are passed around several times. I am now 8-years and 8-months old, and being back at the HSHC was quite a shock. My previous home had resident cats who were part of the family. I was totally overwhelmed and stressed by having to live with them. Sharing litter boxes, food bowls, and water dishes was hard to bear. Whenever I saw them, I would yowl, cry, and sometimes even soil myself. During a two-month period, which I called Heavenly, I lived separately from those cats. My stress level went away, and I was feeling 100% happy. Checking into HSHC again has caused my stress and anxiety to accelerate. The shelter decided I needed to go to a foster home to “de-stress”, relax, and become a happy cat again. So on February 11, I moved in with my foster mom (FM). For the first fifty hours, I was terrified, withdrawn, hissy, and lost my appetite. However, I’m getting comfortable living in a bathroom, sleeping in my familiar cat carrier, which holds blankets with my scent. I have a window to watch the backyard, and a litterbox just for me that I use without problems. Gradually, I stopped hissing and growling and began making high-pitched little mew-sounds. FM understands that I am shy and fearful, but she is so pleased to hear me purring and meowing for attention. I am quite the little chatterbox now. I still want to remain in my carrier when people are in the room, but I am now sticking my head out to smell FM’s hand. FM and IL agree that it is still early days, and I need more time in my foster home. But since I am making progress, perhaps the public would enjoy hearing my story. If you are interested in adopting me, the HSHC can make the arrangements. 2-27-26
