Meet Sterling—5 years old, 13 pounds of love, and the reigning international champion of head-butting, purring, and full-body hugs. (He also excels at lap-curling, so technically he’s a four-sport athlete.) He’s even won awards for his striking good looks—because of course he has. Sterling has never met a stranger. To him, every person is a potential best friend, and most cats are too—with a proper introduction, of course. Dogs, he’s a little unsure about, but who can blame him? Life as a former stray teaches you to be cautious around the big barky things. He has tested positive for FIV, which simply means his immune system is a bit compromised—not that he’s fragile or doomed. He absolutely is not. Many FIV+ cats live long, healthy lives; one of his foster’s friends has a 16-year-old FIV+ companion going strong. Please take a moment to learn about FIV—knowledge is power, and in this case, it’s also love. Sterling is impeccably groomed, has perfect litter box manners, enjoys being brushed, and politely tolerates nail trims.
