Story
Hendrix is an 8-year-old Papillon mix with two beautiful, mismatched eyes. His world was turned upside down when his family moved to Canada and, sadly, left him behind in their backyard. We don’t know how long he was out there, but it looked like he got tangled in his harness, leaving his shoulder sensitive.
Thankfully, Shelter Hope heard his story and took him in. We’re not sure why his family couldn’t bring him along, but when he arrived, it was clear his teeth were in rough shape and he needed urgent dental care. Shelter Hope got him the treatment and now he is feeling much more comfortable.
Hendrix is a quiet, curious, and independent little dog who enjoys his cozy bed, watching the world go by, and exploring his surroundings. He’s not quite ready for physical affection from new people and prefers to be left alone as he settles in, but he does appreciate having peaceful company nearby.
With time, patience, and kindness, Hendrix is slowly learning to trust again. Once he feels comfortable, he’ll come up for soft pets and will even show off his obedient side. He knows the “sit” command, seems potty trained, and loves soaking up the sun. He loves to go on walks and explore. He’s gentle, good with other dogs, and continues to make progress every day.
Hendrix would do best with a calm, understanding family who will let him come out of his shell at his own pace.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, loyal companion who will quietly fill your home with love once he learns to trust, Hendrix is your perfect match!
More from his foster:
Hendrix takes a little time to adjust, after one week he has fit in with our two small pups. He loves attention and follows us around the house always ready for pats and attention. He walks well on a leash and is not aggressive to other dogs we meet. He has had no "accidents" and sleeps through the night on his bed in our bedroom along with our two
