Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd xEstimated Date of Birth : 11/12/2024Dark colored medium and large breeds are some of the most euthanized in public shelters nationwide. Dogs like Marilyn overlooked simply because of color, breed and size. Frequently these dogs are never given the chance they deserve or even the opportunity to learn the skills they need to interest adopters. They just want their chance. A chance to gain skills and knowledge. A chance to be wanted and loved. Marilyn is finally getting her chance. Marilyn didn’t deserve the death sentence her former family gave her. Her life before has left her with the insecurities we see in so many of these discarded pups. Nervous but wanting that positive interaction so much. Bouncy but trying extra hard to learn the basics of good dog manners. Super needy because no one has ever made her feel she mattered. To matter….that’s all she wants more than anything else in the world. Marilyn is going to do so much with her chance and we hope find her perfect home. She deserves nothing less than that! Now that she’s at our rescue ranch we’re working on building up Marilyn’s confidence. She’s excited to be around people and excited to see other dogs. No reactivity she simply doesn’t know what to do with all the excited energy she feels. With time and consistency that excited energy will fade and Marilyn will understand. Understand our expectations, understand what gets her positive feedback. She wants so much to please and is already making lots of progress. Want to be a part of Marilyn’s journey to belong? She’d love to belong to you! Fill out her application and we’ll schedule a time for you to meet and hopefully fall in love. Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: Labrador Retriever xEstimated Date of Birth : 09/20/2023She was so terrified it almost sealed her fate but one yes changed Mica’s life! This sweet girl is flourishing. She’s great with the dogs and cats in her foster home and once she settled in learned the routine quickly. She’s both crate and house trained and know how to use a doggie door. She’s the ultimate cuddler and such a sweet, sweet girl who gets along with everyone she just needed someone patient enough to let her decompress and feel comfortable enough to shine. Mica came into Kern County Animal Services in September. Part of an all black dog hoarding case seized by animal control in the desert town of Boron. An isolated area with no resources and very few ways for hoarding case dogs to survive but somehow Mica did. She lingered at the shelter. Her breed, coat color and shyness all strikes against her giving her virtually no opportunity to be seen. After a month she was slated to be another shelter statistic ending her short life behind shelter bars but when all hope was lost she got the yes that saved her life. When Mica entered foster care it was hard to trust and even harder to open up. Humans hadn’t been kind but the kindness of one was all it took and this sweet girl became a brand new dog over the course of the next few weeks. She litterally transformed becoming the sweet Velcro girl we know and love today. Micas story isn’t over, it’s only just begun. We hope we can guide her to the next steps on her journey and find her the adoptive home she never knew she could have If you are interested in adopting a Marley's Mutts please fill out an application at http://marleysmutts.org/adoptionprocess/
