Labrador Retriever

Male, adult , Special Needs
Sumter, SC
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Benny is a great dog! He's smart and great with other dogs, cats, kids, and just everyone! He was a total mess when he was rescued.  Skinny and walking funny, we fattened him up and took him in for xrays and a ortho consult and to be neutered.   Lucky for Benny, he is negative for heartworms and can live a normal dog life, however... he could probably benefit from an FHO surgery on one hip.  We want to provide the surgery for him, but his current foster isn't able to commit to the after care required, so we really need to adopt Benny to his forever family and then set up the surgery! Because we are foster based, we require an approved application before a meet and greet can be scheduled. We think that is fair for our fosters so every meet and greet can has the potential to result in an immediate adoption. Benny is a courtesy post and his rescuer will select his next family. Please complete the adoption application from our website. We work with many rescues and strive to find every rescued dog in our care a great home. Sometimes that means transferring that pet to another location where adoption may be more likely. We currently have partners in New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont.  If you are interesting in meeting any of our pets, the process is to complete an application.  It can be downloaded as a pdf document from our website and submitted by email to  as a scanned document or as photos OR can be completed entirely online. Both links are in the header of our website.   Because we are foster based, we require an approved application to schedule a meet and greet. We feel that is fair to our fosters and rescues so every meet and greet can result in an adoption.  &#226&#128&#139We do not have set adoption fees for dogs, but hope adopters will donate generously so we can rescue more. The medical care for every dog can easily exceed the adoption donation.  Average adoption fees for dogs in the area range from $175 up to $450.  We ask for a minimum adoption donation of $50 for cats regardless of age.  Each cat is up to date on vaccinations, dewormer, and microchipped.  Larger donations are always welcome so we can rescue more.  Medical care for each cat easily exceeds the minimum donation.   &#226&#128&#139As with every rescue, our resources are limited and the need for rescue help is unlimited. Your generosity helps us to rescue more.   &#226&#128&#139Adopting or fostering for a rescue frees up a space where a new rescue can reside.  &#226&#128&#139If you can't adopt or foster, than please consider donating.  May 31, 2023, 11:32 pm

Labrador Retriever

Female, young
Sumter, SC
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Sunny went through my dog training course last summer, after a month being out of the course her owners called me wanting to rehome her because they did not have the time to focus on her. Sunny is now a year and 5 months old! She graduated our 6 week obedience course. She knows all her basic obedience commands on leash and off leash. She listens very well in all situations. She can go out in public and has some training for emotional support. Sunny has her papers and is registered with the AKC. Sunny loves children. She is of course a lab and therefore does lab things. She likes to chew.. mostly fluffy toys but will respond if you ask her to drop it. Sunny loves swimming and jumping into the pond. She is great at playing catch and will always bring the ball back for more. When she gets excited she makes the cutest noises! She loves to flop over in your lap and ask for belly rubs. Sunny is kenneled trained.
