Story
Buddy is a 2-year-old male Lab/Golden Retriever mix who must be neutered before adoption.  He came to PAHS after being found as a stray; and his owner never came looking for him.  Buddy has a beautiful, shiny, and healthy tan coat with white markings.  He weighs 57 pounds so he is considered to be a large young adult dog.  Buddy is a friendly fellow; and he is a high energy type of guy.  He loves to play outside in our fenced yard.  He is 'dog selective' so if you have another dog we would require you to bring your dog to have a meet & greet with Buddy. Buddy is lovable and would do well in a home with older children (due to his activity level).  He will need a securely fenced yard where he can safely play and get the zoomies out.  Buddy can't wait to his very own family!  Come meet him soon!Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75.  All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter.  Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under 'special needs' our dogs have screened heart worm negative.  January 20, 2026, 8:10 pm

Story
Millie is a 2-year-old female Lab/Hound mix who must be spayed before adoption.  She is an owner turn in to PAHS because her owner was moving and couldn't take Millie.  She has a white coat with tan markings on her head and ear.  Millie weighs 50 pounds so she is considered to be a large adult dog.  She is timid and shy; but quickly bonds to anyone who shows her kindness.  Millie is so lovable that everyone at the shelter adores her.  According to her owner--she is house trained.  Millie is just a treasure of a dog who is ready for her very own family.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Story
Rocky is a 2-year-old male Lab mix who must be neutered before adoption.  He was an owner surrender because his family was moving and could not take Rocky with them.  Rocky has a gorgeous, shiny, chocolate coat with just a bit of white markings on his chest.  He weighs 61 pounds so he is a large dog.  Rocky is, to quote a staff member, a handful!  He is high energy and quite playful.  Rocky would require a securely fenced yard where he could safely play.  We believe he would be good with other large dogs; but, if you have another dog we would suggest you bring your dog out for a meet & greet with Rocky.  Rocky should NOT be in a home with cats.  He would be good with older children.  Due to his size and energy level he shouldn't be in a home with young/small children.  Rocky's owner shared he loves playing in water.  Come meet our zippy and sporty fellow--Rocky!Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Story
Blitz is an 1-year-old male Lab/Pit mix who must be neutered before adoption.  He was brought to PAHS by city animal control after being found, as a stray, near downtown Prattville.  Blitz is black with just a little bit of white on his chest.  He is a handsome fellow who weighs 50 pounds so he is a large dog.  We are still learning about Blitz.  We know he is quite playful and seems to enjoy being outside in our play yard with other dogs.  We also believe he would be fine with children.  This alert and active guy would love to be a member of your family.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Story
General (DG) is a 6-month-old Black Lab/Boxer mix who must be neutered before adoption.  He was found in the parking lot of Dollar General when he was only 8 weeks old!  General has been in foster for 4 months; and he is doing great!  He currently weighs 36 pounds and we believe he will be a medium sized adult dog.  He is the picture of health with his gorgeous black, shiny coat!  General is smart as can be; and has learned so many things while in foster.  He is both house trained and crate trained.  He knows the commands--sit, shake, kennel up, etc.  You can see in his pictures that we didn't even need a leash to make while he was outside for pictures.  General is very well behaved, listen well, and has been easy to train.  He gets along well with everybody--staff, volunteers, children, and other dogs.  General is the total package of a dog--beauty, brains, and so gentle and loving.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Story
Kendi is a 2-year-old male Lab/Shepherd mix who must be neutered before adoption.  He is an owner turn in because his owner can no longer take care of him. Kendi is tri-color--his coat is black with lots of white markings and some light tan markings.  He weighs 42 pounds so he is a medium sized dog.  Kendi is a bit anxious when you first meet him; but he quickly relaxes and warms up to you once he is around you.  He is very calm, gentle, very loving, and would do well with children.  Kendi has lived with another dog; and he gets along well with other dogs.  This very handsome guy is going to make a great addition to some lucky adopter's family.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120.
