We rescued her from the road about one year ago. She is a wonderful dog, great with my 8 year old but we have not been able to leave her out when I have my infant grandson. With me babysitting him now, she is not getting the attention she needs and deserves.

Story
Meet Lady! Lady is a 9 year old Lab/Shepherd mix. Lady needs a very competent and experienced owner, one that has had experience in handling GSD/Malinois/Belgain Shepherds before. She would make a great Police Dog as she has a strong desire to be a pack leader and a high prey drive, and would do well with training and having a 'job.' Lady needs to be an only animal home and is not recommended for a home with children! If you are interested in making Lady a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org   LADY'S ADOPTION FEE IS $160 The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    November 4, 2024, 9:21 am

Meet Melanie! This 4 year old Lab mix is full of energy! She is a very sweet girl that is looking for that forever family that is active, who can take on walks, do training and help her burn her energy! She would prefer a fenced yard where she can play ball, or a dog park to run!   WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT MELANIE COMES WITH FREE TRAINING WITH ROSIE DANE DOG TRAINING! Thanks to the Pedigree Foundation, we are able to work with the trainers at Rosie Dane Dog Training to pay for a 10 week Novice Training course once adopted. More details available upon request! Meet Stormy! Stormy is a 11 year old Shepherd mix. Stormy is a very social dog, with a high prey drive and easily motivated! She needs an experienced owner, lots of exercise, both physical and mental. She needs to be a ONLY PET. She will need training, but is very intelligent and would take to training with zest! She would make a great dog for SCENT DETECTION, agility, flyball, lure coursing and obedience. You name it, she would love it. She is CRAVING a job! Not recommended for a low activity family and requires a fenced yard!  STORMY'S ADOPTION FEE IS $100.The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs.
