Story
Stella is a beautiful 2-year-old Black Labrador Retriever with a gentle soul and a love for the cozy side of life. Weighing about 62.7 lbs., she’s the perfect size for both leisurely walks and long afternoons relaxing at home. Stella is good on leash and enjoys her daily walks, but don’t let that fool you—she’s a true couch potato at heart. Her favorite activities include cuddling, soaking up affection, and being right by your side. She absolutely loves to be pet and will happily lean in for extra love. She’s also housetrained, making her an easy transition into a home. Stella would do best in an adult-only home, as she’s not comfortable around small children. In the right calm, predictable environment, she truly shines as a loyal and affectionate companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, laid-back dog who will be your walking buddy and your cuddle partner all in one, Stella may be the perfect match. She’s currently located in Kennels, Pod One, and ready to meet the people who will give her the peaceful, loving home she deserves. 💕

Story
Oakley is soon to be `paw-roled` from our Paws in the Pen program in partnership with the New Mexico Corrections Department! Each dog is paired with two inmate trainers and enrolled in an 8-week training program that is designed to equip the dog with a nice foundation of training that will help them succeed in their new home. Each of these dogs will go home potty and crate trained with a whole list of cues and basic behaviors; to ensure a successful adoption, we are providing four training sessions to adopters, so you can learn what your dog knows, and an invitation to weekly discounted drop-in classes. These dogs also go home with a biothane leash and collar, 6 months of heartworm prevention, are fully up-to-date on all vaccines and medications, and are spayed and neutered.Oakley is a handsome 1 year and 8 month old male dog with a stunning red coat and an energetic, expressive personality. Full of life and enthusiasm, Oakley loves to play—especially when toys are involved—and brings a joyful spark wherever he goes.He is highly treat-motivated and very receptive to training, making him a great candidate for continued learning. Oakley is still developing his self-regulation skills and can be quite expressive, but with structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement, he is eager to grow into his best self.Oakley would thrive with an active family or in a home with plenty of safely enclosed land where he can run, explore, and burn off his energy. One of his quirks is a funny fascination with shoes—particularly when they’re still on your feet—but it’s all part of his playful nature.Sweet, smart, and full of potential, Oakley is looking for a home that will continue his training, provide guidance, and support him as he matures into a confident, well-balanced adult dog. With the right family, Oakley is sure to shine.
