Story
Fontina is being fostered in PA. Tina is a sweetheart! Her absolute favorite activity is cuddling next to her humans! She burrows under a blanket every chance she gets. When Tina came to BDRA, she had a little extra weight on her. She is now down a whole dress size! She went from a medium harness to a small one. She is completely blind but navigates well around the house. She goes up and down the stairs without any help. She sleeps in bed with her people and uses the doggie steps to get up and down. When she isn't snuggling on the couch, she likes to chew on her bones. Tina likes to be outside and take walks. She loves snacks and can hear a bag open from a mile away! Tina loves people and especially loves when they rub her belly and give her butt scratches! She is good around other dogs but isn't very interested in them. She lived with other dogs in her previous foster home. When they bumped into her, she would get mad and grumble, but that's all. One time, she stepped on her little foster brother and he went after her so she just grumbled and held him down with her paw. Tina is a silly pup who loves to be with her people. She is a lovebug who is just waiting for her perfect forever family! BDRA voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Adoption Area: East Tennessee Feather needs: -An adult home or one with children over the age of 10 -A special diet to manage her stage one kidney disease -Someone home part of the day to reinforce potty training. Feather requires frequent trips outside. Get along little doggie. Yes, you should get me, I’m a long, little doggie! And I’m just a chubby little bundle of joy. Foster mom calls me Feather and I am a 6 to 8 year-old, female, 12-pound Dachshund/Yorkie mix. When I first came to Small Breed Rescue, I was heartworm positive and had to go through the treatment for that, which meant extended weeks of bed rest. That long period of very little excitement or exercise suited me just fine. I just laid around watching my soaps and eating bon-bons (not really, I might have had a few small treats). Anyway, I went from being a scrawny, practically hairless mess to the pleasantly plump beauty I am now. I have a very calm and sweet disposition and I get along well with everyone I meet: humans and canines. I’m not big on the great outdoors, though I do enjoy rolling in a sunny patch of grass on occasion. I’m not a great leash walker, but if that is important to you, we could work on that together. I can sleep quietly in a crate, or I can happily sleep in a great big people bed…I will roll with the flow. My accommodating nature is one of my best qualities. I do have stage one kidney disease which is currently managed by being on a special medicinal chow that costs about $65 for a bag. But since I only eat about a ½ a cup a day, that bag lasts me well over a month. Your vet will want to keep an eye on that! I also need someone to take me outside every few hours as I just can’t hold it very long. I will try to go on a piddle pad if I must, but I have to warn you, my aim is not the best. Foster mom puts two pads side by side and that usually does the trick. I have been spayed, I am up to date on my flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, and other than the kidney disease, I have no other medical conditions that I know of. I’m ready for my forever home, are you ready to get along little doggie?? My adoption fee is $175.

Story
Adoption Area: East Tennessee Teddy needs: -A home with no cats Hi! I’m Teddy, a 10-year-old, 12-pound, neutered, male, long-haired dachshund mix. Sadly my owner went into a senior care facility so I was surrendered along with two of my dog buddies. I’m the most loving boy you will ever meet and expect to be wherever my human is. I do have a condition called collapsing trachea, which makes me cough mostly after I drink water. I am on occasional medication for this. Oh I also only have one tooth but I eat dry food just fine. I like other dogs but would be fine with or without other dogs but I do not like cats! I think they are fun to chase and most kitties would not be ok with this. I walk on a leash with a harness due to my trachea so I do not need to be pulling on a collar. I wear my collar for my ID tags only. I ride in the car ok but do get a little anxious, not car sick just a bit whiney. If you are looking for a beautiful redhead to be your best friend in the world then I’m the dog for you! My adoption fee is $100.
