Story
SAAP, Please welcome back Anthony Bouvier.  He is an 11 month old Bassett/Anatolian Shepherd mix (litter had a DNA test done).  He was adopted as a puppy and returned for being too energetic and exhibiting typical puppy behaviors such as chewing. So he is searching for a furever home that understands puppy energy and the need for training to encourage positive behaviors.  Thus far we can tell you that he is very sweet and loving!! He is a medium to high energy dog but he will settle down to enjoy some quiet time. We are working on crate training and it is going very well! He does need slow introductions to new dogs. He takes a couple days to warm up and get comfortable with a new dog. Then he will initiate play and get along just fine! He does not display aggression or anything but will bark at the other dog.  He would benefit from basic training but he has been a good boy with direction and he is very treat motivated! We were told he was good with kids, but he is too rough for cats.  Apply today to meet this sweet boy! He deserves a home of his own! February 25, 2026, 8:15 am

Story
Meet Bianca Bianca is a gorgeous young Lab/Great Pyrenees mix with a heart as beautiful as her snowy coat. She is the mama of the winter pups all found homes last weekend. She was once a stray who bravely showed up on someone’s doorstep and delivered her pups— and now she’s ready to find the forever family she truly deserves.   Bianca is the total package: &#226&#156&#168 Great with kids &#226&#156&#168 Friendly with other dogs &#226&#156&#168 Walks beautifully on a leash &#226&#156&#168 Fully potty trained   She has that sweet, affectionate Labrador personality mixed with the calm, loyal nature of a Great Pyrenees. Bianca loves being close to her people and would thrive in a home where she can be part of everyday life — whether that’s family walks, yard time, or relaxing by your side.   She’s gentle, well-mannered, and ready to leave her stray days behind for good. All she needs now is a family to call her own.   If you’re looking for a loving, family-friendly companion with both beauty and brains, Bianca is your girl   Bianca will be looking for a family of her own.   Apply at adoptastray.comMarch 2, 2026, 10:37 am

Story
Mater is a sweet guy who has very typical breed traits from his Great Pyrenees/Aussie Shepherd mix. Since a new home will be a big change for him and we want to be sure he settles and shows his family his best self we would recommend fostering to adopt for Mater. Mater came to his foster home after almost two years of being bounced around between various homes and boarding. He has also always used his size to get his way. In the past year we have worked with a professional trainer, established a routine and gotten Mater on medication to manage his anxiety (Fluoxetine). All of this has helped Mater be his best self. Mater also has some backup trazodone that he takes when foster mom knows his anxiety will be higher due to storms or fireworks. In his foster home Mater has learned that humans are in charge and he doesn't need to be the leader, sit and wait to be released for meals, how to relax and stay in place, that furniture is invitation only, and is working on re-crate training to learn crate is a safe space not punishment. Mater lives with two female dogs, a 45lb dominant female and a 75lb submissive female. He also does fine with my sister's 45lb male dog when they come to visit. Mater does sometimes resource guard toys. So, when my dominant female and Mater are together toys are put away. Other times he loves to play with toys and my submissive dog defers to his toy preferences so they play with toys well together. Mater does not like small dogs (under 15lbs) or cats. I also recently had a 27lb male puppy foster who caused Mater's anxiety to go through the roof. I think it was because this foster had no fear of Mater. He would literally run under Mater if Mater was in his way. Mater has done well when my sister has come over but does bark loudly at new people at first. He has done okay meeting people on a leash at adoption events. However, we would not recommend Mater be in a busy household with lots of visitors due to his anxiety Mater has made incredible strides in his foster home and is looking for his best fit family who will continue to support his progress. He is waiting for his perfect forever family to find him!November 18, 2025, 11:18 pm
