Story
😭Pepper was abandoned and was trying to survive (bonding with other dogs abandoned in the orchards). Pepper was limping and in obvious pain when he entered the shelter. Pepper is shy and avoidant, not leash trained, but still 🤍gentle natured🤍calm and quiet🤍Pepper needs a place where he can learn that people are not bad and he can recover from the trauma and abandonment that he has endured. 📝Pepper was brought in by a field officer on 10/13/25 weighing 68lbs. Per the field notes, 10/04/25 14:58 I was flagged down by the resident at 7255 Vivian. He stated he has Ring camera footage of the dogs on his property and has lost 6 chickens to them. His description matched what I had gotten from ZYLSTRA, two large white and black, similar to a Holstein, dogs, possibly Great Pyrenees mixes. There has occasionally been a brown or tan Pit Bull with them. The dogs are not seen every day, maybe once a week or ten days and always in the dark. The dogs are also said to be very elusive, running away at the first sign of people and usually disappearing into one of the nearby orchards. 10/13/25 11:00 White and black male Pyrenees caught in trap scanned dog. I don’t know how long Pepper was abandoned on his own out there trying to survive with other dogs but he is shy and avoidant, not leash trained, but still gentle natured, calm and quiet. Pepper needs a place where he can learn that people are not bad and he can recover from the trauma and abandonment that he has endured.
