Story
**Hospice Adoption** Gus is a complete sweetheart who loves to play fetch. He has CVHD which has damaged his heart & he is cardiologist said he may have only a couple of years left. He is only 6 years old & his CVHD does not affect his daily activity. He was most likely hit by a car while he was stray & now is fearful on walks. He is working on potty training. He does not poop in the house & wears a belly band while inside. A fenced yard where he can safely play would be ideal. Gus is in Colorado Springs. His adoption fee has been waived.

Story
#### Sparky is a very handsome 4 year old Bichon Frise who weighs 12 pounds. Sparky is really blossoming more each day. He can go to a home with another dog or will be okay as an only dog. He is very intelligent and loves doing puzzles for his meals. He thrives during his one-on-one sessions with his human friends. He likes staying near them, and sometimes even accepts pets on the chest or scratches on the back. He is quite food motivated, which will be useful for training purposes. He is making great progress with his leash training and walks to and from playgroups and his 1:1 training sessions. He gets so excited when we bring his harness over to get ready to walk. He needs an adult only home and a 4 foot high fence, as he is a flight risk and likes to explore. His kennel door was left unlatched one night, an exceedingly rare occurrence, and the morning staff found him greeting every dog at the front of their kennel runs. We will help you learn how to keep him safe and he has taught us to triple check his kennel door!! Sparky will thrive in a quiet home with a patient adopter. He needs someone who will go at his pace and show him that he is safe. If you would like to meet Sparky, please apply at NMDR.org. We think he will spark love in your heart when you meet him.- - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
Please contact Constance (connibouchard@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Rescued DogBiography Important Information Please read! If you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train.  Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue.  However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location. Hi! My name is Jessie and I am a sweet Maltese boy who is 6 years old, and I weigh 9  pounds. A sibling my size to learn the ropes from would be perfect! If you have been waiting for a sweet Maltese, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org. Love, Jessie 012223-15  March 26, 2024, 11:20 pm
