Story
Meet Oliver, a 10-year-old Yorkie mix whose greatest talent may be making friends with absolutely everyone he meets. Oliver truly does not know a stranger. To him, every human is simply a potential new best friend, and he is more than ready to make your acquaintance. He is exceptionally affectionate, compassionate, and has the wonderful temperament of a little comfort dog. If you’re having a bad day, we suspect Oliver would consider it his personal responsibility to fix that. He also has a hilarious little quirk: when he’s being handled, Oliver likes to “growl talk.” It can sound very serious… right up until someone says the magic word: "treat!" Suddenly, the conversation is over and Oliver is all ears. Oliver recently lost his beloved owner, and as her health declined, she simply wasn’t physically able to maintain the consistent potty and training routine he needed. As a result, Oliver’s housetraining has gone backward. We want to be honest about that because his new family will need to be patient and willing to help him get back on track. That doesn’t make Oliver a bad dog. He is a wonderful little guy who loves people, loves being around other dogs, and apparently considers the groomer a pretty fantastic place because of all the canine friends there! He’s also good with kids and would love a home where he can be somebody’s loving little shadow. What he needs now is structure, patience, and someone who understands that an older dog can absolutely learn new routines. Oliver has spent 10 years being loved. Now he just needs someone willing to give him a fresh start and show him that losing his person doesn’t mean losing his chance at a happy life.
