Story
Portia is a sweet, gentle girl who may be a little shy at first, but give her a little time and you’ll discover the happy, bubbly personality hiding underneath! At the adoption center, she was a quiet, reserved girl, but once she settled into her foster home, she quickly showed just how loving and joyful she truly is.
While new people can still make her a little unsure, Portia warms up with a few visits and is quick to become your loyal little shadow. She loves her humans and will happily follow you from room to room just to be near you. If you sit down, expect her to be right beside you, or better yet, hopping into your lap for some quality cuddle time. She loves leaning into you, gazing up with her sweet eyes, and soaking up all the affection she can get.
Portia absolutely loves being outside! Before anything else, she has to complete her favorite routine: rolling around in the grass and enjoying the sunshine. Once she’s finished making her rounds of the yard, she’s ready to take care of business. She also enjoys belly rubs and has the cutest way of asking for them, flopping right onto the floor and showing off her belly as if to say, “How can you resist me?”
This sweet girl does well in her kennel and usually settles in without a problem. Occasionally she may have something to say, but she quickly returns to being her quiet self. She isn’t very interested in toys; she’d much rather spend her time cuddling with her people.
Portia has done well with cats and does not chase them. She has not been fully tested with dogs in a home setting, but she has been comfortable around dogs at the adoption center. With slow, proper introductions, she may do well with a canine companion.
One thing is certain, Portia loves her people. When her foster comes home, her tail starts wagging, and she can’t wait to rush over for a happy greeting. She is a loving, affectionate girl who just wants a family to call her own.

Portia has an adoption investment of $500. Portia's higher adoption investment does not mean we value her life more than others. We do not see dogs like Portia enter our care very often. Therefore, her higher adoption investment will help create a financial legacy for the dogs that stay in our care for longer periods of time or require significant medical investment.
